Email just received...
"Just to let you know that as from 25th April and as a result of there being no meetings Christian Wakeford has been absent for 6 months and therefore he now ceases to be a member of the Council. He is however, still a County Councillor.
"The website has been amended and for information there are now 48 Councillors - 21 Conservatives, 16 Labour, 10 Liberal Democrat and 1 Independent."
C Wakeford was elected as MP for Bury North in December. Why he has not sorted this out before now is not clear.

The wording would seem to imply that if there were no meetings at all for 6 months, every councillor would be disqualified! |

Again, a former councillor from 2008 to 2012. There is still 2 LDs in Newport, the mother-daughter team of Carmel and Holly Townsend in St Julians. |

I did a very quick check and saw a Cllr Hussain elected in 2017 so assumed it was him. The first line of the report describes him as a 'former councillor' so I don't really think you can pin that on the Beeb. 
There does seem to be an annoying habit sometimes of describing former councillors as "Cllr so and so" in the same sort of way that ex US presidents are always "President so and so".

Cllr Anthony Gerard, Green member for Newport ward on Uttlesford District Council, has sadly resigned. It is not thought to be Covid-19 related. A spokesman for Uttlesford Green Party said "It is with great sadness that we learned of the resignation of our friend and colleague, Cllr Anthony Gerard. He will be very much missed for his direction, determination and warm sense of humour." That text just makes no sense. I think the appropriate phrase is "what a load of b***ocks". Doh! Its a joke based on the Green Party's quote in the article. He made it sound like a death so I presented it as though it was. There was nothing inaccurate in my post. |

Louise Coles (Conservative), Fletton & Woodston on Peterborough, has sadly died. That's very sad. Her brother (Richard Coles' partner) also died very recently. |
