The death has been announced of Paul Wild, Conservative councillor for Astley Bridge ward, Bolton council.
This means a double vacancy election in May. I am supposed to be the captain of the ward's Conservative club quiz team; in the event that I get into the building before the next election I will update members further.

Cllr Pattie Hill (Labour, Batchley & Brockill, Redditch District Council) and (Labour, Arrow Valley West, Worcestershire County Council) has sadly died. Source is Rachel MacLean MP's Twitter For those who are wondering, Cllr Hill is the same person as the Patricia Lailey listed on LEAP. Redditch is one of those councils which puts the "commonly known as" name (here, Hill) on the ballot paper and SOPN but lists the candidate's full name (here, Lailey) on the Declaration of Result of Poll, which is what I was working off. The six-month rule applies to both vacancies. The death from COVID-19 has been announced of Henry Anderson, SNP councillor for Almond and Earn ward, Perth and Kinross council.

Well. I'm glad that Covid is dead as well. Are all the restrictions now to be lifted?

Well. I'm glad that Covid is dead as well. Are all the restrictions now to be lifted? Covid is dead? Why has nobody reported this? Why did a record number of people test positive in the previous 24 hours? Why has my cousin been called off annual holiday to return to a Covid ward at Leeds Royal Infirmary? And what are you smoking to persuade you to type such b.s. and can we all have some? Edit: I just read MacShimidh original post and see what you did there. I seek leave of the House to withdraw my remarks.

I've been told of another vacancy in an outer London borough where a sitting councillor has died from COVID but it doesn't appear to be public yet.

Keith Evans, Hampshire County Councillor for Fareham Warsash since 2005 died at the end of December. I was told it was COVID related but have no confirmation of this.

Wow, did not expect to find out my local councillor had died from this forum - never met him but had communicated a few times over email.

Michael Gove MP (Con, Surrey Heath) has today said that the lockdown will carry on until at least March and that when it is raised will be raised in stages, therefore are we looking at Super Thursday becoming Ultra Thursday (with the elections due to be held in May also being postponed until either July or September)?

It looks like the Denbighshire, Corwen by-election may have been pulled - this news article announcing the election is now throwing an error ( archived version)

Get on with it, we have waited long enough.

Luke Hall - the local government minister - said on a Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government webinar this afternoon that local elections WILL go ahead as planned in May.
Of course this is the same government whose ministers were saying on Sunday that schools were safe before closing them yesterday, so perhaps take it with a serving spoon sized scoop of salt, but I suppose it is confirmation that the government do not *currently* have plans to delay the elections in England. Obviously the situations in both Wales and Scotland are devolved.
