How so? You certainly saw no UKIP activists as we only had a paper candidate there. I doubt you saw many UKIP voters either.. ukip knocked on my door Cracking title for episode 7 of my new political distopean drama. 'UKIP Knocked On My Door!'

We live opposite the cemetery so they must have strayed some way Oh I know what it was. It was our PPC - I sent him to get the nominations for Clarence but he decided to turn the thing into a canvassing session and spent hours without getting any signatures because he was trying to identify people as supporters before asking for their nomination (and predictably there were hardly any UKIP supporters). Fucking muppet

not that I am complaining because Andrew’s previews are excellent, but in Norton Fitzwarren and Staplegrove I don’t believe the deceased councillor lost out for the Conservative nomination in May, she resigned from the Conservative group in 2016 and had been sitting as an Independent since then. Rod Williams, the Conservative candidate in this by election is the County Councillor for Staplegrove.

Back in '83 I was still knocking up at 8.48pm. In February. A gentleman who said he would vote later after his wife had returned from work. We explained that the polls were closing in 12 minutes. "If I take her card can I vote for her?"
"Get in the car!"

"Get in the car!" Senior Lib Dem admits being an accessory to electoral fraud.
Incidentally, I thought polls closed at 10, rather than 9.

It used to be 9pm for local elections. They also opened an hour later.

This week's Previews have been ripped to pieces already, so one more peck won't make any difference I suppose if people are complaining that means they care about the product.

Our Charnwood lot are planning on using "No, I don't understand it either" as a slogan from now on.

"Get in the car!" I can beat that - at the Lewisham East by-election, I was with a good mate and we were heading to the pub for a well deserved pint. Along the way we thought we'd do one final set of doors on the list. At 9.57, we knocked on the last one - and the lady had no idea about the by election! We saw her run off, and to this day we don't know if she got to the polling station in time!

I can’t remember the year, but I was Agent for an incumbent councillor who came home, armed with a bag of chips at about 9.45, and said “that’s it for another year, we’ve done all we can“. I just casually remarked “I assume you voted for yourself”.:..his fish and chips were delicious.

I did point out that no, he couldn't vote for his wife. Even with her polling card.

I once spent an afternoon slogging round a pretty grim housing estate with a leaflet that was a good 3 hours too late. Got back to the committee rooms (the agent's house) at around 6 to ask what I should do next. Couple of people there, but no sign of the agent. "Where's xxxxx ?" "Oh, she's washing her hair ready for the count." "But, but ... what about knocking up?" "Oh she says everything's been done."I went home. (This was a parliamentary election in - supposedly - a target seat. We didn't win.)
