The outgoing MP's attitude to Corbyn won't help enthuse voters either

He is not very good at maths. There were only 20575 remain voters in the whole of Bassetlaw. now deduct the 3 wards not in the seat. deduct the lib dems remain vote. deduct the con remain vote. deduct the few voted for the indy .

It’s believable that Bassetlaw Labour voters were majority Leave. It’s definitely not believable that this was the case among most Labour leave seats.

Palmer was Leicester based and isvery pro-EU so presumably not a good choice for Labour. The local party is worried which may mean my numbers are not far off lab 2017 12500 remain 15000 leave total 27500ish con 2017 5000 remain 17500 leave total 22500ish others(lib dem + indy) 1500 remain 600 leave total 2100ish Not in seat/did not vote remain 1500 ish leave 10000 ish Out of curiosity, where do you get these figures from? Oh and incidentally, I suspect Mann is somewhat right. The 2017 Labour vote might only be 55% Leave or so here, but those who abandoned Labour in 2015, 2010, 2005, etc. will all be extremely leave. And they're voters who Labour will have to win back to increase their majority in these type of seats.

Ah, it's always useful to know those sort of breakdowns. Whilst some of it was published, I've got a couple of friends who were at the Oxford count, and the variance between areas was staggering (apparently 60%+ in the WWC estates in south Oxford versus 10% or less in the northern suburbs).

Well both here and Buckingham, it will only happen if a GE is delayed well into 2020. Which right now doesn't seem likely.
Mann was still an MP as of last night, when does he intend to resign his seat?

It appears that the patent creating John Mann as Baron Mann of Holbeck Moor will be issued today, at which point he will cease to be Member of Parliament for Bassetlaw.

Makes the Brexit maths more amusing. A bad move for a government nominally interested in delivering Brexit this side of an election.

And, let's be honest, if there's a change of government he won't be the anti-Semitism tsar for long.

Oughtn't we wait for the Supreme Court of Europhile Girl's Blouses to rule on whether the Great Seal is entitled to do what it's always done?
