Hello Ian - Welcome to the new site (I only found it fairly recently). I wish you luck tomorrow, though obviously our candidate will have a resounding victory I remember attending a public meeting in Leasowe during the October 1974 general election in a cold meeting hall. The Labour councillor for the ward, who was a very large chap, was sat in the row immediately behind me. Halfway through the meeting he got up to speak and grabbed the chair in front of him, which I was sitting in. The longer he spoke, the more agitated he got, and the more agitated he got, the more he rocked the chair in front of him about, with me in it. When he eventually sat down (which felt like a lifetime), I glared at him, but he completely ignored me. He presumably wasn't aware at all of what he had been doing, or just considered me to be a nothing!

For those who like little details, it's worth knowing that Hill ward is apparently named not after any geographical feature, but after Octavia Hill, social reformer and one of the founders of the National Trust, who was born in Wisbech.

I like that little detail. Wish I'd come across it when I was writing the preview

Excellent result for UKIP there. The TUSC result is quite amusing, but to be fair this was never likely to be very good terrain for them
