I thought he looked familiar. I recognise him from a guilty pleasure of mine, the Netflix "property porn" series, Buying London.

You mean founder of what was Phones4U. Phones4U itself is long gone-it was liquidated almost a decade ago.

Well, the meedja and people who make use of these things! And hopefully Guy is enjoying Guernsey. It's a fabulous place. Cauldwell is not exactly one of your shy, retiring billionaires.
The £500,000 donation to the Tories was after he met John McDonnell.

It is fair to say that nobody has been stopped from standing as a Labour candidate simply for expressing pro-Palestinian sympathies or "criticising Israel". Really? I don't agree, at all. predictable. But The Bishop is completely right.

I'm tempted to make a really harsh remark but I will on this occasion refrain from doing so

It's funny how quickly these blokes can go from unacceptable face of capitalism to top-bloke-never-doubted-him. Like Jim Radcliffe. A bit like Guy Hands reinvented himself as wise guru of Remain despite fucking off to Guernsey. There's hope for us yet

Are they Independent or Tories? All four were elected as Conservative in 2023, but had already left the party and were sitting as Independents.

Matching up against the photographs on the district council website, I think the four are as follows:
Peter Harris (Weeley & Tendring, elected as Foundation Party in 2019, Conservative in 2023, defected to the Tendring Residents' Alliance) Richard Everett (Frinton, elected as Conservative in 2023, stood for UKIP in 2015, defected to the Tendring Residents' Alliance) Jeff Bray (Little Clacton, elected as UKIP in 2015, Conservative in 2019 and 2023, defected to the Tendring Residents' Alliance) James Codling (Bluehouse, elected as UKIP in 2019 and Conservative in 2023, defected to the Tendring Residents' Alliance)
I think that the Tendring Residents' Alliance is made up of the independent councillors who aren't part of the ruling administration, but there may have been shifts of allegiance I've missed. That's the entire group.

Sunderland, Washington West (2028). James Warne, Labour to Independent. Has this one been confirmed, given that they were elected as Labour just last month?
