Trafford, Broadheath: Serena Carr resigned last month. Belongs here, I think, due to all-outs in May meaning that she could have just silently sat out the final months?

Leicester
Patrick Kitterick (Castle ward) who had the Labour whip withdrawn last week has defected to the Greens Stephen Gee (Thurncourt) from Labour to Independent. He got noticed today that the NEC panel overseeing local selections deselected him.

Can’t find anything online, but Regional news just carried an interview with her saying she’ll be standing on a platform to abolish the executive mayoralty, which was the reason behind her (and three other Labour Councillors’) suspension.

Though as I understand it the mayor doesn't have that power? Technically they sort of can, not by an Executive decision but by persuading the council to hold a referendum on abolishing the position and then campaigning for its abolition in a referendum.

Alternatively she could collect signatories to a petition and get the post abolished that way.

When Stoke abolished its Elected Mayorality it was at the end of a term of office, so she would likely serve her four years anyway, especially given the length of time it can take to collect the requisite number of signatures, get council to agree on the wording of a referendum, and then hold the referendum on a scheduled election day.

Castle ward has quite the recent election history. 2003 the Greens missed a seat on the drawing of lots (to Patrick Kitterick), Greens won two seats in 2007 with Kitterick holding the third for Labour, losing those seats at by-elections in 2009 and 2010. Only 107 votes shy of the third seat in 2019. I would think Patrick Kitterick should be in with a good shot of being elected as a Green.

I would think Patrick Kitterick should be in with a good shot of being elected as a Green. and Castle incorporates Clarendon Park and areas around which has significant student numbers. I would be astonished if Patrick, who is well known in the area, was not elected for the Greens. Given the sh**show that Leicester Labour has become I imagine many seats will fall to a variety of parties.

Amber Valley and Derbyshire County Council Alex Stevenson - Greater Heanor and Philip Rose - Alfreton & Somercotes Independent to Reform UK (both elected as Conservative) Mark Burrell - Heanor East Conservative to Reform UK Sam Goodrum - Langley Mill & Aldercar Conservative to Reform UK Alex Stevenson - Shipley Park, Horsley & Horsley Woodhouse Independent to Reform UK Jackie Stones - Heanor West Conservative to Reform UK Sheena Trower - Langley Mill & Aldercar Independent to Reform UK (elected as Conservative) announced via Alex Stevenson's facebook page. And there was me expecting a co-ordinated media blitz with coverage and Richard Tice on hand. Looking a lot like one of these changed their mind at the last minute. Though five of the six named councillors is now listed as independent on the Amber Valley Borough Council site (Alex and Philip are listed as Reform on the County Council), Mark Burrell still appears as Conservative. Reform have started announcing their candidates and have announced two different individuals for the two seats in Heanor East ward. Hope to have a chat with one of the other Conservative councillors tomorrow evening to clarify the situation.
