Amber Valley and Derbyshire County Council
Alex Stevenson - Greater Heanor and Philip Rose - Alfreton & Somercotes Independent to Reform UK (both elected as Conservative)
Mark Burrell - Heanor East Conservative to Reform UK Sam Goodrum - Langley Mill & Aldercar Conservative to Reform UK Alex Stevenson - Shipley Park, Horsley & Horsley Woodhouse Independent to Reform UK Jackie Stones - Heanor West Conservative to Reform UK Sheena Trower - Langley Mill & Aldercar Independent to Reform UK (elected as Conservative)
announced via Alex Stevenson's facebook page. And there was me expecting a co-ordinated media blitz with coverage and Richard Tice on hand.

Are these strong enough councillors (with teams around them) to be able to win with a full range of alternative candidates? The Derby original bunch are long-established and have built out gradually within one segment of the city.

Four out of five will be up in May 2024, with Trower not until 2026. So there's time enough for them to get campaigning, and possibly try to gain seats in May.

Alex has a very strong profile in Heanor which is certainly the sort of place that Reform could do well. Not sure how organised their campaigning is and how much remains with the Conservatives. I expect the Conservative vote to crash in the two Heanor and the Langley Mill wards. Think these wards will be between Labour and Reform but will be quite the ask for Reform to win. I would imagine that elsewhere they would make much less of an impact but it might be enough to cause a surprise winner somewhere which would normally be safe Conservative.

I know their name predates Reform UK but wasn't sure if there was a link.

Is the Derby party linked to Reform UK? I know their name predates Reform UK but wasn't sure if there was a link. Yes, there is a separate registration for Reform Derby but there is a joint description "Reform Derby and Reform UK" under which their candidates stood.

Well… In the early days this was effectively a Graves family vehicle that was linked to whatever party Alan Graves (originally a Labour councillor) hitched to. I think they are linked but it’s always been pretty localist

These are all the names I had that were jumping. A couple of others were suggested as possibles. Alex's facebook announcement also includes a Heanor Town councillor and a Parish councillor. That may well account for the other two in that promised eight.

Previously reported here on 10th Jan. I did do a search of this thread and nothing came up I'm pretty sure the search in this thread is broken - I find it impossible to find anything when I try and check whether something has already been reported. Not sure if it's a consequence of the size of the thread or something else.
