Very good holds for us. If the Tories were hoping to put pressure on Tim Farron, it isn't working very well just yet. And both Labour and the Greens go backwards too.I have absolutely no doubt the Lib Dem leaflets will have highlighted the marginal state of these wards to frighten them into submission. Hmm, not really marginal even before this election, were they? But I daresay the old "2 horse race" graphic was put to good use.

Objectively a very good result for us though. Maybe one for the "we might have won it if we had really thought we could" category?

Can you imagine how dangerous the LibDems could be if they stood for anything else to put on their leaflets?

Maybe one for the "we might have won it if we had really thought we could" category? it was some where that looked promising since Labour did well in another Charnwood by election in September. Not this well though tbf. Despite a good second in September there was still a 1% swing to the Tories instead of the 8.5% swing here. Anstey also borders Beaumont Leys I think. Certainly its the next stop on the 54/54a bus after Beaumont Leys. Which is now a safe Labour seat. I had thought most the interesting results would be in the south next year; Medway, Thanet, etc. But clearly there are some interesting ones to watch in the Midlands too like Charnwood and Lichfield too after some good results this year there too.
