It's a rogue. LD too high, Lab too low. I could see it as a prediction of 2015 but not how people would vote tomorrow. Which, strangely enough, is precisely what it is

Is that the question? I thought seemingly wrongly that they tended to be 'how would you vote if it were tomorrow'. I am I generally wrong or is ICM different?

The ICM "wisdom index" (not to be confused with ICM's polls for the Guardian) isn't a normal poll: they ask people what they expect the result of the next election to be and take an average.

Thanks. I had missed that. So it is not a poll so much as a guess by people as to how other people will vote. Possibly not that far from my own then. I might put UKIP a point or 2 lower, given to Labour butthat is a guess as invalid as every other one.

"The Grauniad is a hypocritical, left wing, comic, which barely anyone reads. Quite how they manage to stay in business is a mystery to me?"
Well I read it. It's actually the only paper left that tries to provide a full news and comment service (though I could do without twits like Melissa Kite on their comment pages).
It also has the best columnist in the British press (in my opinion of course) in Zoe Williams.
I suppose however that the Telegraph, Times, Mail etc provide a balanced, honest account of the world!!!

Tony I am a life-long Guardian reader but find Zoe Williams to be far from being the best columnist in the British press - opinionated, self-aggrandising and unwilling to see another's point of view.

Oh, if Pete Whitehead thinks I am a clown I may be doing something right.
I suppose this may be because I often agree with what she writes and you don't! (She is also very readable).
It also occurs to me that the purpose of writing an opinion piece is to be opinionated!

Zoe Williams has improved as a writer, tbf. A few years ago she was dreadful, and a frequent target of the Graun's still lamented talkboards.

The same as a month ago, then - even though the Torygraph reports it as "closing the gap" *and* as if it was a normal VI poll!
