IIRC the SNP have a peak score of 7% in GB-wide polling (which "equates" to about three quarters of Scots voting for them) Boo to that

My usual question - why on earth would 20% of the country [regardless of what you think of Johnson] NOT want the full report (i.e. the full facts) published???

My usual question - why on earth would 20% of the country [regardless of what you think of Johnson] NOT want the full report (i.e. the full facts) published??? Perhaps they want Johnson to stay in the job until the next election. In all seriousness, you can get 10% of people to respond anything to a poll - especially if there are only two options. It could also be that 80% want it published, 10% don't want it published, 10% aren't paying enough attention to politics to know, or care, about what they're being asked.

Because they aren't bothered. What report?
Because it is only a poll. Oh, god another one, just tick that box.
Because they are leaving the politicians to deal with it, which is what we pay 'em for. the bastards.

I spoke to a voter last month, before the latest crisis tbf, who was a Labour voter and the conversation was going well until I said what about all this scandal with Boris. At which point he said, well I think he's doing best he can. Foot in mouth, learnt my lesson there

I believe that's the highest Labour vote share in any published poll since March 2018, when Survation put them on 44%.

.. and this would be surveyed before Johnson's pathetic and disgraceful performance and Starmer's generally accepted excellent performance in HoC yesterday! Long may this trend continue! Tory MPs - over to you.

I did notice a slight hardening of the Tory vote in 2 recent canvasses, but the last 2 polls are strong for Labour. I wonder if once again I will notice it on the doorstep

To get a higher figure than that you have to go back 20 years to pre-Iraq Blair. It's a thing that shows that the left vote is generally more fragmented than the right vote. Aside from that period when Farage was at his chilling peak.

For those who don't have access to this more detailed analysis of the figures, I hope the below from Savanta's press statement is of interest.
Highest ever ‘Best PM’ rating for Starmer - Savanta ComRes Monthly Political Tracker • Best PM rating: Johnson 31% (+3), Starmer 39% (+3), Don’t know 30% (-5) • Westminster VI: Con 32 (-1), Lab 41 (-1), LDM 11 (+2), Green 4 (-1), SNP 4 (-) • Net Favourability: Johnson -34% (+3), UK Govt -32% (+1), Starmer -6% (-2), Sunak +3 (-7) • Johnson & policies: Like both 20% (+1), Dislike both 47% (-), Like him, dislike policies 12% (+1), Dislike him, like policies 11 (-) The proportion of UK adults who say that Keir Starmer would make the best Prime Minister is at its highest level ever according to the latest wave of Savanta ComRes’ Monthly Political Tracker. Two in five say the LOTO would make the ‘Best PM’ (39%), up 3pts from last month and 12pts higher than this time last year (27%). Johnson’s rating for Feb (31%) is also up 3pts from the previous month, although 17pts down from a high of 48% in May 2021. Amongst 2019 Conservative voters, three in five (59%) say that Johnson would make the best PM, although around one in six say that Starmer would be better (18%). After a turbulent few months for the Prime Minister, he’ll be encouraged to see that the proportion of 2019 Conservative voters who say he’d make the best PM is up 8pts from the January wave of our tracker (51%). Conversely, seven in ten Labour voters (71%) say that Starmer would be the best PM, although one in five say it would be Johnson (19%). Despite this, Starmer’s Net Favourability rating actually fell by 2pts from last month to -6%, although his score amongst 2019 Labour voters is +34% for this month. Johnson’s score on the other hand sees a 3pt increase from January’s tracker, although the PM’s Net rating is still -34%, a far cry from the +15% he enjoyed when we began tracking in May 2020. Despite being tipped as one of the most likely candidates to replace Johnson as the next party leader, Rishi Sunak’s Net Favourability has fallen by 7pts from last month to a lowest ever score of +3%. Whilst the score is still positive, it’s worth remembering that the Chancellor’s rating was +17% this time last year, with a high of +30% in September 2020.
