OK boys it's not nice to gang up and bully the little kid in the playground. Things can change and time will tell. But at the moment you have a point. Gwyn! Disappointed at the company you are keeping. The original slur included you after all! And perhaps you could remind me who has for over a year displaced you in the opinion polls?

The Comres poll sample had a large Labour bias as is usually the case with telephone polls ( there were more 2010 Labour voters than Conservative !!! ) . The weighting adjustments do not seem to have fully compensated for this and therefore overstates Labour by 1-2%

That poll would have the party's looking something like this Labour 362 Cons 239 LibDems 21 Others 19 A Labour majority of 74
I wonder what the percentage of the vote UKIP would need to win a seat?

I wonder what the percentage of the vote UKIP would need to win a seat? I think the strength of the UKIP & Conservative campaigns in whichever seat Farage stands in will be more of a factor than UKIP's national vote share.

One of the best polls ever for UKIP. Indeed. It matches their highest ever score for UKIP. It is also apparently their lowest ever score for the Lib Dems

Also from today's poll Please indicate whether you have a favourable or unfavourable view of each of the following political leaders… (per cent "favourable") David Cameron 27% (-4) Nigel Farage 27% (+7) Ed Miliband 20% (-2) Nick Clegg 12% (-1) League table of Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher 34% David Cameron 27% Harold Wilson 22% John Major 20% Tony Blair 19% James Callaghan 16% Gordon Brown 15% Edward Heath 14% The economy The Favourability Rating for George Osborne, the Chancellor, has fallen by two points to 15% despite the generally well-received Budget last month. Most people say that they are worse off than at the last election, but nearly twice as many say that Osborne has the right policies for full employment as say the same of Ed Balls: My family is better off now than at the 2010 General Election four years ago Agree 20% Disagree 59% Don't know 21% My personal finances are in a worse position than they were at the 2010 General Election four years ago Agree 50% Disagree 35% Don't know 16% George Osborne, the Chancellor, has the right policies to return the country to full employment Agree 27% Disagree 39% Don't know 33% Ed Balls, the Shadow Chancellor, has the right policies to return the country to full employment Agree 14% Disagree 47% Don't know 39% Maria Miller David Cameron showed a serious lack of leadership over his handling of Maria Miller’s expenses Agree 62% Disagree 15% Don't know 23% Constituents should be able to force sitting MPs to defend their seat in a by-election if enough people sign a petition demanding it Agree 59% Disagree 14% Don't know 27% A law that allowed constituents to sack their MP through signing a petition is a bad idea because it could be used by an MP’s political opponents Agree 36% Disagree 31% Don't know 33% "Wisdom of crowds Ed Miliband is likely to be Prime Minister after the next election Agree 23% (+2) Disagree 39% (-1) Don't know 39% (0) Changes since December 2013. www.comres.co.uk/poll/1155/sunday-mirror-independent-on-sunday-political-poll.htm

On UNS or whatever it's called, I think the first seat falls to us at about 23% Then rises relatively quickly once we hit 27%

Somewhere between 16 and 18% IMO. That is more like what they would need to win a significant number (ie more than a literal handful) of MPs, IMO. They can *probably* get one or two elected next year with around half that.....

They can *probably* get one or two elected next year with around half that..... Or fail to get any elected with getting close to that. Either is equally possible IMO at the moment. I suspect that wherever Farage stands he will galvanise the campaign against him as much as the UKIP one and that he might well end up missing out.
