My impression is that the people defected to us from the Tories are still with us but the Labour defectors mostly aren't

Well, to be fair Labour has changed quite a bit as a Party since the halcyon days of Corbyn, whereas the Conservative Party's direction of travel has largely been towards oblivion (a destination which, sadly, they won't arrive at).

Smith is now a comapny director, is fully back on the pro-Labour train and seems to be based in Cornwall now. According to The Times, "Angela Smith, who like Berger became a Liberal Democrat member and candidate, is understood to have rejoined Labour late last year after approaching David Evans, the party’s general secretary, to seek special dispensation."

If Angela Smith has been allowed to rejoin, then there is no real obstacle to other former ChangeUK people. There are strong rumours that Mike Gapes too is to rejoin.

Hmmm, not terribly enthusiastic about the rules being waived here. She came across as someone with an overweening sense of entitlement, without the actual talent to partly excuse this.

It may simply be the party trying to draw a line under the whole Corbyn leadership period?

Symbolically speaking, letting Berger back in matters far more there.
A lot of Labour "moderates" strongly disagreed with what the Change UK lot did and that shouldn't be forgotten.

Gapes is more deserving than Smith in my opinion, he’s labour through and through, and the fact that he never joined another real party (unlike the rest of the change UK MPs) and still used Labour colours in his 2019 campaign says a lot.

I don't think Rupa's comments were "nothing", but she did show contrition on being suspended, and I hope she learns from this. I tend to think the suspension was right, but that lifting it now is proportionate & the right thing to do, hope I am proved to be right (I think I will be)

Has Penistone chosen a Labour candidate? Would she be looking to return there? Or Altrincham? Though her parachuting there for the second time under a different party would be laughable and just be a net negative factor and would only help ultra-local Brady hang on.

Talking of substanceless racial fusses over nothing I take ‘superficially black’ as just another way of saying ‘coconut.’ Not a real black man because he doesn’t think the right things or act in the right way. It’s a pretty twisted way of looking at people.
