I half fancied a Conservative gain in Torridge, on the basis that the candidate was the Chairman of the Parish Council. But didn’t have the courage of my convictions- more fool me!

Yes I had had that thought too, though we have had a number of examples recently in that part of the world where PC involvement seems to have been more a handicap. Maybe it was for the Green who I believe was a member of the same PC and was quite a close second last time-of course there wasn't a Tory that time.I was fairly sure the Lib Dem wouldn't win- definitely a Wrong Village candidate I would say, plus the problem of the previous successful candidate not lasting out the year. Sort of area where it will all be about personalities rather than party labels, I would say.

The last election being an unusual straight Lib Dem v Green fight didn’t give much clue to what would happen. Had the Conservative been standing an an Independent I would defitnely have gone for him to win. Completely agree on it being the sort of area where it is about personalities rather than parties.

Gurnos, Merthyr Tydfil: olympian95 gets the win with 11.3, just squeaking yellowperil's 11.4 with hempie in third on 18.3 Fawley, Blackfield and Langley, New Forest: Right Leaning ahead here with only 3.3, robertwaller in second on 7.3 and priceofdawn and europeanlefty sharing third with 13.3 apiece Freshney, North East Lincolnshire: robertwaller wins this one with 8.2, ahead of europeanlefty on 11.8 and Right Leaning on 13.8 Stoke, Plymouth: olympian95 gets his second individual win with 6.0, ahead of robertwaller (7.6) and europeanlefty (8.6). This was also the lowest scoring contest of the week and this entire month (81.8 faults overall) so congratulations to everyone on this one. Birchington South, Thanet: Another low scorer overall, won by europeanlefty with 7.3, ahead of andrewp (9.3) and a joint third for olympian95 and hempie (12.0) Hartland and Bradworthy, Torridge: Unsurprisingly the highest scorer of the week, olympian95 comes first having got the only correct winner prediction with 47.6, followed by priceofdawn (59.1) and andrewp (69.1) Knowsley, West Lancashire: andrewp wins here with 36.1, followed by yellowperil on 40.1 and a three way tie for third between robertwaller, priceofdawn and europeanlefty, all on 42.1 For the week this sees robertwaller (181.0) just pip olympian95 (183.6) with Right Leaning (193.3) rounding off the podium. For the month this sees robertwaller again take the prize with 802.4, with olympian95 in second on 832.3 and andrewp just squeaked into third on 833.3. A great contest this month so thank you all once again. I'm assuming middleenglander will create August's thread, but will have to wait and see whether my reign of terror will continue!
