As I understand it, this means the Lib Dems gained more seats than Labour in the 2018 Local Elections. A very significant result for bragging rights (shame it was lost in the week after the elections though). Very, very close

I have been known to swear and throw things at the radio if by odd mistake some Abba gets on it (Desert Island Discs?) by mistake. It is one of my touchstones of evil like Rap music and 'The Sound of Music'!

It's on my Facebook as well!! I'm with you completely on rap, but have never actually seen the Sound of Music!

Very, very close I'm a little surprised there was no recount? I've just noticed the Tory candidate names - a Newport Gay and a Packer. Seriously?

Wasn't it a split ward before? So 1 or 2 from Lab to Lib?

It was not a ward before - newly created in boundary changes and with no previous results.

There were boundary changes this year in Southwark so a direct ward to ward comparison is not possible. One can only compare the seat totals at Borough or national level with 2014.

Borough wide I think Labour and the LDs both ended +1 at the expense of the only two Conservatives.

Well no, because Labour gained the ward which previously returned Conservative councillors. The Lib Dems seat gain comes entirely from the fact that one of their safe wards was split into two wards which now returns a total of 5 Lib Dem councillors where previously it returned three. They have gained a seat from Labour effectively in this ward (relative to the old Grange which was split 2/1 in their favour) but that is more than offset by the two seats they lost to Labour in East Dulwich/Goose Green

Very, very close Perfect vote management by the Lib Dems making sure the established councillor was third on the ballot! I notice Carlton is busy changing the subject away from "irrelevant Lib Dems not even as useful as a dustbin" on this thread!

And that the Lib Dems made more gains overall than Labour or the Tories for the first time in many years! Not too bad for an irrelevant Party...
