Every time there is an election in Ireland I discover another horrifying reality of their system. Ballot papers must be ‘stamped’ in a certain place before being handed out. But it is not uncommon for polling clerks to forget to do this and hundreds of ballots are discarded as in this case. Political parties have to actively remind their supporters to check their ballots to ensure the staff have done their job!!! This was also UK law until very recently. depends what you mean by very recently?

The only reason not to nuke it is our close geographical proximity.

Some chatter in the replies there about FG not being too comfortable with such a gap. Would it make FFG difficult?

Where’s the Greens guaranteed seat? They look like taking a seat in Dublin West. Currently around 600 votes behind AON for the final seat but with transfers from SD and Lab to come.

FG certainly have over nominated so will be feeling burnt They have arguably over nominated but I can't see many, if any, examples where it seems to have cost them a seat.

Situation so far...for the last 2 seats People Before Profit/Solidarity 5,211 Aontù 4,348 Greens 3,777 Labour 3,299 Social Democrats 3,094 EXCLUDED The biggest risk for Green is SD transfers pushing Labour over them

depends what you mean by very recently? Post 2010 The change, from an official mark applied to ballot papers by punching holes when they were issued, to being printed on the ballot papers at the start, was made in the Electoral Administration Act 2006.
