Turnout in Bristol is 44.85% . 6862 ballots. Big ward and probably the most votes cast in a local by election for a while
In that ward, I suspect a large ish turnout favours the Lib Dem’s.

I wouldn't mind betting some of the safe Tory Westminster and K&C wards were approaching 80% Remain. Ours are generally around that level too. In general the Labour areas are stronger for leave.

Turnout in Bristol is 44.85% . 6862 ballots. Big ward and probably the most votes cast in a local by election for a while Impressive, particularly given that it poured with rain in the Westcountry this evening. Turnout in this ward was 61% at the last local election in 2016. I certainly hope so...

20 votes unaccounted for in Westbury-on-Trym and Henleaze - "quick" recount to find them.
(This may be a bundle's worth - before the 20 vote bundles are agglomerated into 100 vote bundles, but it suggests the result is relatively close)

I bet there is an unusually high proportion of postal votes, which would explain the unusually high turnout in successive local elections.

Claire Campion Smith, the retiring Lib Dem councillor in Bristol, had a big personal vote, as evidenced in 2016, and probably did well to even win the 3rd seat in 2016. Westbury on Trym is pretty wealthy.
There was a notional swing to the Lib Dem’s since 2016. Having Labour, Green and Lib Dem candidates helped the Conservatives gain the seat.
