Just the three this week - what on paper looks a fairly safe Conservative seat in Chichester, a potentially interesting contest in St Edmundsbury and an unusually contested one in South Northants:
CHICHESTER, Rogate. (Con Resigned) Candidates: DAVEY, Ray Kelvin (Labour) MABER, Philip Gerald (Green) O’KELLY, Kate (Liberal Democrats) PETTIGREW, Robert (Conservative)
2015: Con 1003; Grn 293; UKIP 192 Oct 2014 by: Con 342; UKIP 138 2011: Con 990; Lab 97 Jun 2010 by: Con unopposed 2007: Con 695; LD 255 2003: Con 531; LD 254; UKIP 89
St EDMUNDSBURY, St Olave’s (Lab resigned) Candidates: BYRNE, Liam (Independent) CLARKE, Max (Labour) KORFANTY, Helen Wanda (Liberal Democrat) MURRAY, Tom (Conservative) (2015 candidate)
2015: Ind 835; Lab 699, 462; Con 677; 2011: Lab 461, 314; Ind 421; Grn 372 2007: Lab 496, 444; Con 244, 230 2003: Lab 662, 608; Con 286, 253
The conservative candidate is the same one who came close in 2015. The Green candidate in 2015 was the second incumbent councillor elected as Labour in 2007.
SOUTH NORTHAMPTONSHIRE, Middleton Cheney (Con resigned) Candidates: ALLEN, Mark James (Liberal Democrat) RILEY, Jonathan (Conservative) SEAR, Adam John (Green) SOLESBURY-TIMMS, Richard Edward (Labour)
2015: Con 1527, 1151; Ind 868 2011: 2 Con unopposed 2007: Con and Ind unopposed

Original post updated to reflect an unopposed by-election in Rogate I'd missed.
Interestingly, or perhaps not, St Olave's and Middleton Cheney both had by-elections on the same day in 2001.

LD gain Rogate, Chichester Little comment on this result, but this was a ward where last time out the only non-right wing candidate was the Green Party who scored well under 25%; the time before that was a straight Con v UKIP battle and in 2011 it was Blue v Red with the latter getting about 10%. An LD win on 55% of the vote is a hell of a result. Personal vote perhaps?

I believe the successful candidate is already the county councillor for the division that includes Rogate.
None of the candidates gave an address in the Rogate ward.
I thoroughly recommend Andrew Teale's previews!

It must be given the large drop in the Green vote and the almost as poor Labour vote!

We had the newly minted county councillor, the Tories chose an outsider in a council where despite recent Lib Dem by-election success they seemed to regard it as foregone conclusion. A number of serious gains beckons next year.
