Just the three this week - what on paper looks a fairly safe Conservative seat in Chichester, a potentially interesting contest in St Edmundsbury and an unusually contested one in South Northants:
Middleton Cheney is also unusual in South Northants as being a ward with a bit of a Labour voting history, not that it's apparent in the most recent contests, but it often returned the only Labour representatives on that council in the 70s and 80s and was safe in the 90s
Little comment on this result, but this was a ward where last time out the only non-right wing candidate was the Green Party who scored well under 25%; the time before that was a straight Con v UKIP battle and in 2011 it was Blue v Red with the latter getting about 10%. An LD win on 55% of the vote is a hell of a result. Personal vote perhaps?
