Oh, completely agree it totally wasn't.
Griffiths was declared bankrupt, moved to Latvia for some reason and has apparently ended up in Strasbourg, with occasional visits to the UK to publicise her e-books. Hasn't tweeted since 2016.
She still regularly posts to her blog Jane is the One though, mostly about books though. On the Reading Labour side, it still is a bit like that with allegations flying everywhere.

I agree, just a couple of nights ago Caversham Labour Party selected a candidate that didn't even live on the right side of the Thames with no previous candidate experience over a person who formerly taught at the local secondary school, a local-ish caseworker for our great local MP Matt Rodda and a former candidate who stood for the party last year in what is always a Tory seat now post-coalition and got a 5% increase in a place where Corbynomics will not be popular. The only local candidate dropped out of selection. Can't complain that much though, considering it was at least democratic. And this side of the river is really different from the south side of the river , it has its own separate identity ,almost considers itself to be a bit like a less homogeneously well-to-do Henley. Considering we are up again a local sitting Tory who lives in a council house, it's going to be difficult in our traditional areas of strength.

Well, selections are one thing an ongoing atmosphere of disruption quite another.
I notice that the BBC have finally vacated Caversham Park. There is a tv and electrical store in Tottenham still called Caversham radio which i presume was named after it many eons ago.

A mixed piece of news , because, although it's sad that the BBC are going and I know several people who are losing their jobs, they could move my old secondary Highdown there to increase capacity and ditch the ailing sixth form that some of my old friends are at , so that Reading College can take over the old site as a Caversham campus and maybe they could also locate the Heights Primary on part of the site to stop the Mapledurham Playing Fields saga continuing. Although, Highdown have proposed to open a second secondary school managed by them on Richfield Avenue near the Reading Festival site, which will probably allow enough capacity for all the Caversham surplus currently out of catchment for Highdown and being forced to go out of county to Chiltern Edge in Sonning Common and the huge shortage of secondary school places in the Oxford Road/Tilehurst/Southcote area.

Getting 255 votes (17.4%) running as an independent candidate for Secretary of the Oxford Union. Turnout was huge by normal standards but I was happy with the total.
Ashfield 2017 still came as a surprise to me, given the results in Bassetlaw and Broxtowe it surprised me how close the Conservatives came to winning.
Another was Nick Clegg losing in 2017. I thought 2015 was the biggest drubbing he'd get.

To me, Ayr, Carrick & Cumnock was the most surprising Conservative gain in 2017?
