YesterDay was the runOff in BrandenBurg's district Dahme-SpreeWald, which was hyped by the media with "AfD ante portas" aso. Yet, the Ind. succeeded.
Round I: 51% part. 35% AfD 35% Ind. 30% SPD (defending party)
Round II: 48% 35% AfD 65% Ind.
As can be expected, all other parties endorsed the Independent.

Though the AfD didn't win anywhere, results by Amt/town vary from 53-47 to 78-22, close in the boondocks, blowout in exurban Berlin.

That's not the relevant list, this is funny how the mayoral title seems to have been transferred from the ceremonial to the actually powerful office in 1950) Incumbent got 42.5%, CDU just squeezed out the Greens to reach the runoff (23.odd each)

But what I came to post was this beauty. Found the 1970 census religion question results in Hesse recalculated to the later municipalities (the other usable thing in the book is the full results, in terms of seats, of the 1981 local elections) Had to map it. This is after the postwar resettlements but before mass dechurching and quite early into Muslim and Orthodox immigration.

A first poll featuring BSW! Brandenburg Landtag poll this week.
CDU 18 per cent SPD 20 Green 8 FDP 3 AfD 27 Linke 6 BSW 11 FW 3
Looking at other polls, BSW seem to be attracting vote share from AfD, Linke, FW and (to a lesser extent) SPD. Anyway, make a government out of that!
It would be interesting to see what happens in the next Saxony, Thuringia and M-V polling.
Elsewhere, Linke aren't even showing up on this month's Schleswig-Holstein poll.

They could continue, but it wouldn't take much to fell the administration. If BSW can replace Die Linke for leftists and FW for dustbin votes, then it would be more secure.

Ulm will today elect its mayor. A 130k-city in the SE of Baden-Württemberg: ...it has been usually CDU-governed due to BadenWürttemberg's wealth and the SE (along river Danube) having been more remote than the Rhine-areas and the inFlux of catholic farmers into the originally usually Lutheran towns. Mayors since 1946: CityCouncil: But the federal elections' trend in this city with its university has been clearly to the left: - PartyVotes measured at all eligible votes: -- Ulm minus WestGermany: -- Ulm divided by WestGermany: - PartyVotes measured at only valid votes: For 8 (!) more years runs today the CDU-incumbent, challenged by SPD, TheGreens and 2 Independents (1 of them as an antiVaxx "QuerDenker").

Ulm is a really nice place. Especially at this time of year. May be. But i am traumatized as there was not only A.EINSTEIN born, but also Germany's most nerv-taking politician: Mrs. Claudia Roth (Dep.Speaker, TheGreens)...

Ulm: Yes, SPD&Greens received a narrow majority, but TheGreens of BaWü include also lots of "esoterical" weirdos and others, who will not necessarily opt for SPD in the runOff (especially not with the present unPopularity of the federal TrafficLight-coalition).

Chroniclers' duty: Pirna, capital of Sächsische Schweiz - Osterzgebirge (🙄), 39k inhabitants, has elected an AfD mayor. First round (would have required a majority): AfD 33, FW 23, CDU 20, i 14, SPD 10 Second round (no majority required) after the i and SPD withdrew: AfD 39, CDU 31, FW 30. Evidently voters (those so inclined) were unsure who was better placed to stop the AfD.

Can a mod delete these duplicates please. Why does it matter? The author could delete them himself if he is worried about looking like an idiot (the rest of his posting history indicates this is not a major concern for him)
