The Greens have retained their seat in the posh Munich district of Schwabing. Well, "posh" - Schwabing was 100 years ago "not a location, but a condition" (v.REVENTLOW): A Sybaris for all kinds of artists&intellectuals opposed for different reasons to Berlin/Prussia (GEORGE, WEDEKIND, SPENGLER aso.). But nowaDays it has indeed "gentrified".

With 36.5% the CSU have had their worst result since 1950. With results in from 88 of 91 seats they have improved slightly and are basically unchanged from 2018.

The Green's held 4 of their 5 direct mandates in Munich, losing Moosach. They also lost their only other direct mandate of Wurzburg City.

Greens with 3 direct seats despite coming fourth. SPD wiped out with some comically close shaves sprinkled on top. Next up: party strength maps (list vote only), then Frankfurt neighborhoods, municipalities, Frankfurt precincts, other cities. I have a few days.

The Greens have retained their seat in the posh Munich district of Schwabing. You've never been to München have you? Schwabing isn't posh, It's fairly packed with BoBo's and SchikkiMikkis but it's not posh, either in new money or old money. It's sort of Islington how soem people like to imagine Islington is as opposed to the reality with high numbers of people social housing and working class people. Also, the Wahlkreis is somewhat larger that just the area of Schwabing.

Not very surprising given that the CSU's base is primarily Catholic and Franconia is more strongly Lutheran (i.e. Protestant) than the rest of that Land.

...additionally the protestantic areas differ a lot from those with big AfD-gains, cf. confessional map 1939 (when few nonChurchMembers were in place): The obvious corRelation exists with distance from the citiesCentre in southern Franconia (Nuremberg-Erlangen-Fürth) and as a result bad prospects for the future:

For all the usual press chuntering about backward Ossi Commienazis voting AfD, yesterday means that the number of people voting AfD in Hessen was only 200,000 lower than the entire turnout at the last election in nearby Thuringia.
And as far as I can work out, the result in Bavaria means that more Bavarians have now voted AfD than the entire AfD electorate at all the last eastern Landtagswahlen put together. And then some.

I prefer Frankfurt and it's environs, if I'm honest. I do intend to rectify my lack of experience of the South in the coming years, however. I like hiking, and I'll make a trip down there.

The Allgäu and the environs of Garmisch are two particularly good spots for hiking. Me and her are probably going to do a bit around Frankfurt next time I'm over for work. The Wetteraukreis comes recommended by my colleagues.

By the way: Despite ruled by SPD 1952-2018 in perManence (apart from an interLude 1979-1985) CDU was able to defend the district clearer than last time (when it had been just few dozens of votes!). In VogelsBerg-circuit SPD - governing from its creation 1973 to 2000 and since 2012 - did not even nominate any candidate. In LichtenFels in Franconia (1963-1981 SPD-run) also terrible perFormance for the left parties. Fulda (Hesse's Rome) and Regen in eastern Bavaria were anyWay blowOuts.

Darmstadt, meet Marburg. There'd be 20odd red municipalities if this was direct vote, btw. Large CDU leads (outside the Fulda country and such) just mean a neat three way tie for second place. AfD wins are all in traditionally SPD places.

Lacks hiking infrastructure and is too inhabited.
