Good luck - but not TOO much good luck - to Robert Teal, the continuity Liberal Party candidate.

"The Respect Candidate with Loony Support"? Taken as read, i would assume. Indeed, that is the ultimate tautology .

Ah, but surely there are exceptions. Our own John Loony is standing against Respect's Lee Jasper. =OP

Just two candidates - what's that all about?? I only report what I've seen. I did wonder that it was rather a short, short-list. Sarah Champion may be the Chief Exec of www.bluebellwood.org/ my Google-Fu has yet to reveal anything about the other candidate.

The second candidate is probably Sophy Gardner, the ex-Wing Commander who made the shortlist for Feltham & Heston - she would complement Dan Jarvis nearby neatly.
Sarah Champion is chief exec. at a children's hospice in the area.

Just two candidates - what's that all about?? It looks to me as if the NEC were determined to have an all-women shortlist, without having time to get an extensive range of female candidates.

It's not the first shortlist of 2 I see. Ealing Southall had one too
I suppose Champion is the one indicated by IainBhx. I can't find anything on Gardener.
Update: I think LabourList mispelt her name and it's Sophy Gardner. She is a member of Labour Friends of Forces, former RAF commander. Also shortlsited in Feltham & Heston

Reads to me like a simple attempt to repeat the Barnsley Central playbook for what to do in a byelection forced by the resignation of an MP caught in the expenses scandal. Hard for Mahroof Hussain MBE to take as I suspect he was looking to take over from MacShane in 2015 or the next election after that.

Good luck - but not TOO much good luck - to Robert Teal, the continuity Liberal Party candidate. Given that that's the same name as the Lib Dem candidate for South Yorkshire's Police Commissioner, I assume that Rotherham Politics has omitted the word "Democrat" there.

From Twitter, it seems that the Tory candidate is really someone called Simon Wilson and that Robert Teal isn't even the Lib Dem.

I bet they don't mention the 35bn hole they left in the defence budget do they? Perhaps because it doesn't actually exist??
