Good to hear, Mr Loony. It somehow wouldn't feel right if you didn't stand

I should think the BBC will run an Election Special on 15-16 November, as there are a lot of elections going on? There's a very brief video of the Ealing Southall by-election declaration of 2007 on YouTube. JohnLoony was a candidate, of course. If he stands in Croydon North, I wonder if it would be possible for somebody to video the declaration and post it on this thread. If it takes place on another day it might be missed by the BBC.

If there is any by-election / PCC election programme I will be recording it and then transferring it to a DVD and will try and upload parts to YouTube as soon afterwards as possible (although the quality will be low as I have very low upload speeds)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a time when every by-election triggered an "election night special" on the BBC? Dimbleby and a few guests sat down and analysed the figures and discussed what they meant for the parties.

Dimbleby and a few guests sat down and analysed the figures and discussed what they meant for the parties. Yes but having a 24 hour news channel gave them the excuse to ditch it. Like SwanArcadian I'm hoping they might do one this time because of the large number. Here's a video I uploaded with some by-election programmes from 1991, (thanks to Robin Hood on UKPR for the footage): Winchester by-election on DBIV's channel: ITN also used to have by-election programmes: I posted a link to the Croydon NW by-election programme with Peter Sissons a bit earlier on this thread IIRC.

It doesn't appear as though anyone has yet managed to get the AV Referendum results programme onto YouTube. I live in hope.

He's probably as good a candidate as they can get, he at least has a high profile. People who dislike him would be unlikely to vote for them anyway. I wonder if Ken Livingstone might be considering following him.

I'm not saying he would, just asking, but he does seem to be the Respect type and of course he has left Labour before.

Yes, but he left because leaving gave him a direct benefit, and with the full intention of coming back when it was permitted.
Joining Respect is not going to increase Livingstone's chances of wielding power and it would burn most of his bridges to Labour.
