Lee Jasper vs Winston McKenzie . My word. Over three rounds. Two falls, two submissions or a knockout. Seconds out, round one.

Which part of Croydon do you live in John? Would you vote for yourself? I live in Fairfield ward, which is part of Croydon Central. The nearest part of Croydon North is about 16 minutes' walk away. The fact that it is not my own constituency is one factor why I'm considering not standing, although the non-marginality of Croydon North is one factor why I'm more likely to. If there were a by-election in Croydon Central, my decision on whether to stand would depend on who the other candidates were, but I would be more reluctant to stand here because it's a marginal.

As far as media coverage is concerned, I was so appalled at the BBC's non-coverage of Bradford West that I am considering abandoning a lifetime's loyalty to the BBC's election progammes (which used to be excellent when I was first interested in by-elections in the 1980s) and perhaps setting my TV to record Sky on 29th November.
But is Sky properly reliable in covering by-elections these days? Or might they drift off topic like the BBC does sometimes? Advice from someone who has experience would be appreciated.

Good grief - Respect really do attract absolutely the worst kind of c***s imaginable don't they Hey, they didn't pick their new woman's officer[0], she comes up with comments like “It’s such a shame that the history teachers in our school never taught us this but they are the first to start brainwashing us and our children into thinking the bad guy was Hitler. What have the Jews done good in this world??”[0] Yes, that's what they call it.

I can now confirm that I intend to stand as a candidate for the OMRLP in the Croydon North by-election. My computer and website are back to normal, and my website has been updated accordingly.

John's policies; www.croydonloony.co.uk/John, would you sit on the Government benches if you are elected? I hope you would join the Coalition.

Surely it is sufficiently ridiculous for the Government to be running two different candidates in by-elections in this Parliament without adding to their number...

The Coalition is formed by two separate parties, running two candidates is perfectly acceptable. It would be madness if the Conservatives stood down, ditto the Liberal Democrats.

The LibDems would quite like John's position on electoral reform. His wish to withdraw from the EU would play well with a lot of Conservatives. He'd fit in very well with the Coalition.

The Coalition is formed by two separate parties, running two candidates is perfectly acceptable. It would be madness if the Conservatives stood down, ditto the Liberal Democrats. It wouldn't be madness at all. It's possible to imagine a coalition agreement including an arrangement whereby in Parliamentary by-elections the Coalition government was represented by one candidate - either from whichever of its constituent parties obtained more votes in the seat in question at the previous General Election, or a candidate chosen explicitly as a Coalition candidate by both local parties meeting together. Please explain how I have compromised my sanity by making this post. ;D
