Just watching Time Team, did a DNA test on Phil. Celtic, but it seems 80% of the people are Celts and only 20% Anglo Saxon. jimboo has to update his prejudices knowledge base. Who is "Phil"? The big hairy celt on Time Team. You know, the one with the dirty fingernails.

You really sound like a Crown Court judge from the 1960s. "Who are these 'Beetles' that people are referring to?"

"Who are these 'Beetles' that people are referring to?" Now I'm thinking of a Not The Nine O'Clock News sketch Counsel: This receipt is for the digital watch... Judge: ...a digital watch? What on earth is a "digital watch"? Counsel: Sorry m'lud. A digital watch is a watch worked by microelectronics. Judge: Oh! How fascinating. Proceed. Counsel: The next receipt is for an automatic video recorder... Judge: ..."automatic video recorder"? Counsel: Yes, I'm sorry m'lud. It's a machine that records television programmes on special tape. Judge: Oh, how fascinating. What will they think of next? Proceed. Counsel: Thank you m'lud. And finally, a receipt for a "deluxe model inflatable woman", whatever that is. Judge: The Deluxe is the one with the real hair...

I'm a bit like that too - friends and colleagues are generally amazed by my total ignorance of popular culture. I'm too busy to watch TV - about all I ever watch is Breakfast News on BBC1, and occasionally Newsnight before bed. In mitigation, your honour, I might point out that not watching one particular TV programme - and therefore being ignorant of one particular TV presenter whose name may or may not be "Phil" - does not in itself with wholesale ignorance of popular culture

Actually I agree with doktorb here. At the moment Mr Valentine is not a candidate so the information is not relevant to the article.

He most certainly is - maybe we might hear from him in person soon?? It's going to be a hard election to fight. We have a history of standing in Wythenshawe (And doing fairly well) and North Manchester, but we have never done much in the centre. I'll do my best to make sure I keep everyone up to date on what's happening on the ground from all parties.

The Conservatives have chosen Matthew Sephton, who is one of those actual homosexuals you hear about these days, and was chair of LGBT Tory at the time of being chosen to fight Hazel Blears at the last election.

Will his friend Richard Carvath be accompanying him to the nomination paper office again?
