Selection will happen soon enough and it does seem Lucy Powell (close to Ed) is a front runner and she would be no parachute

Zero chance of Conservatives coming 2nd here , slightly greater than zero chance of Greens coming 3rd

It will be an interesting election (when it happens around November time). By then, the chances of a LibDem third (or worse) will be reduced.
It will be tough for us, of course it will, but we have an MP next door and the might of the Regional Party is within commuting distance from all angles.

First, let's wait and see if you can hold a single council seat in Manchester this year...

Whether the LD's win any seats in Manchester this year or not will not make any difference to the LD's coming 2nd in the byelection . They did not win any seats last May but still finished 2nd to Labour in the wards making up this parliamentary seat . In the byelection in Leicester last May , the forecast was that the LD's would certainly lose 2nd place to the Conservatives , they didn't .

There were significant boundary changes in both 1997 and 2010. Have you taken these into account?

I just put the figures in as reported by BBC, Wiki etc, so it's presented "as is"

Relieved to have found the new forum.
Sorry to be a bit thick, but why is there a vacancy?

You (and others) might want to know that although you have to log on with a user name with no spaces you can edit the display name after to how you would like it ie you could show as Colin J if you wished
