FAREHAM Stubbington FOREST Jim (Liberal Democrat) 1,185 HAYRE Pal (The Conservative Party Candidate) 769 ANNEAR Andy (UKIP) 117 RANDALL Mathew James (Labour Party Candidate) 76 That is a pretty impressive gain. Notionally it must be mainly swing from UKIP, but God knows what actually happened. The UKIP vote was largely built around the resigning councillor who then went Tory (not before he'd dragged his colleague across the line in '16). A lot of Wood votes went to us because we actually work the ward as well, there were some votes coming from the Tories too due to development and Stubbington feeling a bit sidelined in the borough. Absolutely thrilled obviously, I was confident Jim would win, but perhaps not quite as well as that!

Labour HOLD in Buckley Bistre West, Flintshire. I don't know where you got this from, Maxque? It's the only one from which we are awaiting detailed figures. It's been confirmed on twitter:

Well, god knows what the voters are up to tonight. Bemused is the word. None of these results has been particularly surprising.

Local elections are not about Brexit...

Personally I'm quite chuffed - we took the only ward to change hands so far and had vote share up in all the results we've got the details for (and must be "up" in High Peak when it comes in, since we didn't stand last time); and we had candidates in every election. Would like to know how we did in Bistre though.

Thanks re Buckley, David. I didn't doubt the result. But it's frustrating for those of us who are on tenterhooks about how many votes each Independent got ... !

He has represented the ward since at least '73... Anyone who has been on the Council for that long in a place that small will be personally known to pretty much everyone.. That makes a huge difference

Wandsworth result increases the likelihood that there are some voters in the borough who switched to Labour in the General election over the EU or other issues, but are quite happy with their Conservative council.

Well let's hope so. I'm not sure that the ratio of Con:Lab is much different from the General though.

There was quite a high turnout of voters in Wandsworth in the GE which benefitted Labour where the low turnout yesterday did not

I think forgetting ones name isnt very important. Some people dont like to be reffered to by name and others dont like referring to people by their name. Ive never had a problem feeding back personally. Im not keen on the idea on going around with one sheet on ur own. A big part of canvassing is the support of ur team. Its really hard to canvass on ur own Ive found it can be a bit much. Is this work you do for the well-known 'Non-Aligned Party'?
