Obviously not everyone on the right saw it that way. Some of us could see the genuinely transformative (and right of centre) nature of much of the agenda he delivered - free schools, police and crime commissioners, universal credit, increasing the value of marriage by making it available to everyone. All at the same time as cutting both taxes and the deficit. Understood.
And the seals? They will have the same, like the vegetables.

The last actual conservative leader of the Conservatives. Really? When did that occur? Through Osborne there was a marked and satisfactory conservative element to the economic approach. Everything else was very SDP leading on to effective alt.woke.

There are however many Muslims who are more afraid than average to come out as gay. There's bound to be a hidden number in this statistic for many if not most areas. It's a problem for other religions: Mr. Bean comes out! As a Christian!!

I could look at this map until the cows come home I’m surprised he’s surprised. I thought it was well known that farming in East Anglia is dominated by the arable sector. Fairly elementary schoolboy geography. Warm wet west. Better grass. More grass. Cattle/Milk/Cheese/Meat Cool wet central highlands. Poorer grass. Less grass. Sheep/Wool/Meat Cooler drier flatter east. Better soils and broad level fields. Grains/Flour/Feed/Malt/Beet/Sugar/Vegetables.

Ruben Gallego (congressman for AZ-03) has announced that he is running for Arizona’s Senate seat. He has clearly been angling for a run against Sinema for quite some time, though due to her party switch it will now be in a three cornered contest (assuming she doesn’t retire) rather than the previously expected primary challenge. Sinema doesn't really have a base and is distrusted by both sides, so she's expected to retire. There would be little point in running for her and it would harm her earning potential in lobbying afterwards if she suffered a humiliating defeat and got single digit support. No point in proving you're irrelevant. But, I wonder what he is showing tonight?

it was one of Carlton's better questions, to be fair. And I don't ask many. I tend to deliver opinions.

one of lifes minor irritations is that because you ( carlton43 ) often post your interesting film reviews in two stages there is somtimes a bit of searching to be done to se the complete revies (they dont come to the top of ‘recent posts’ as it is an edit) I wonder if ‘following’ would help me find them I don't know, but doubt it, in view of Chanin's helpful post. I do apologise for the serial episodic nature of my film posts. That reflects a concern not to loose material when called way on other duties, worrying about the connection or knowing we are in an 'Angry Bear' phase. But, I do always post a specific new entry on my 'Comment' thread to advise of completion of a film and also of any deletion from the Top 100, and another post on the '2nd Top 100' relating to additions there.

I think that I may have done the same ages ago. There yet maybe members out there thinking that I am follwing them ....... Whatever that means? And that was of course the substance of my question. I still don't actually know what that function is for, why it is used and what it does? I think that there is a 'Gifts' function as well? What does that actually do? Why are these functions there at all? There are many other forums on proboards where these functions are relevant, but not this one. Functions provided 'At large' by ProBoards but not relevant to us. That makes complete sense now. Thank you.

I was not deliberately following you carlton, and would not dream of doing so - I pressed the wrong button, and for about 2 seconds I was following you. I unfollowed you immediately. You may sleep safe in your bed safe in the knowledge that I am not doing so. I think that I may have done the same ages ago. There yet maybe members out there thinking that I am follwing them ....... Whatever that means? And that was of course the substance of my question. I still don't actually know what that function is for, why it is used and what it does? Tory VI went lower in the Fifty Days Of Truss Misrule. And let's not airbrush out that Sunak promised us "integrity" and "accountability" when about to enter Number 10 as PM for the first time. If someone isn't writing a book with this title they really should be. 'Big Deal At Crotch Crutch'.

Ihave just received a notice that batman is 'following me'? I have always wondered what that meant and why people did it? It is easy to block someone and I see the point of that although not doing it to anyone anymore. I can understand looking on the Threads/Posts menu to see some names to find out what they have posted. Then there is the Members Activity thread if one wishes to catch up with a favourite member's posts or to see if they have ceased or dropped volume. I am obviously missing what 'Following' actually means and what benefits it confers on the follower? Or is it an indirect token of appreciation or a form of 'stalking'? I really would like to know this and have no other intent in asking.

A one-time "favourite" of the forum, Chuka Umunna often got misspelled, either too many Ks, too many Ms or too few Ns! He's recently re-emerged. Remember how he was vehemently opposed to privatising Royal Mail? He's now advising Daniel Kretinsky on his takeover of Royal Mail, in his capacity as a senior bod at JP Morgan. That was when politics was his business. Now he is engaged in real and proper business and doing something more useful and certainly far more rewarding.

Any poster is entitled to block anybody else, and others questioning their motives in doing so is bad form. Oh! I say, Your Grace! Bad Form, wot! Frightful fax pas! You are quite correct. I don't have anyone on block and I don't report anyone for anything they do. But I have had people on block and I used to report people for a time when I felt very vulnerable to being banned.

I've not blocked anyone on this forum before, but seeing a member whose profile picture celebrates a brutal war criminal has crossed that threshold. Absolutely vile. Vulnerable Forum Member confesses to being being menaced by a photograph!

[Smith was an abusive fat pervert using his various offices to satisfy his perversion and with more serious consequences than those caused by Moyle, but I don't think his ordinary character was as repellent as MoyleGiven the former, does his "ordinary character" matter that much? I understand that resoning which is perfectly valid, but I do think that both points are quite separate and each matter. And I believe it to be valid to suggest Moyle is worse than Smith as a parliamentary person.

Elizabeth Warren running for a third term. She's obviously heavily favoured but did lose Plymouth County in 2018, so probably underperforms the Presidential nominee in 2024. Quite obviously not an English major!

Yes, I know. Then he should know better and know how it feels. I suspect he doesn't need to be told how he feels Well, I think that he does. A legitimate difference of opinion between us.
