Sad to report two parish council vacancies from my neck of the woods, probably of interest to Listener in particular.
Dr. Norman Eve (Ind), Chenies ward, Chorleywood Parish Council, has died. There will be a by-election on 21st March unless there is an unopposed return.
Ms. Ivy Young (Lib Dem), Leavesden ward, Abbots Langley Parish Council, has died.

Nicholas Watson has now resigned from Scottish Borders Council At last! Only took 5 months. Apparently the Conservatives have chosen Rachel Hamilton as their candidate already. The by-election will have to be held by mid-May at the latest, depending on when the resignation takes effect. BREAKING NEWS! The Melrose & Leaderdale by-election will be held on Thursday 2 May. The votes will be counted electronically the following day.

It's being widely reported that David Wildman, councillor for the ruling Independent group on Pembrokeshire for Burton ward, is to resign his seat. He was originally elected as a Conservative, and it's quite a promising ward for the tories.
