The case presented by Texas against the election practices of 4 states carried by Biden appears to have little merit, but must go to the Supreme Court. The most concerning element is that it has proved possible to persuade the attorneys general of 17 Republican states to support the claims. While in the US these posts are political they are lawyers bound, to an extent, by professional standards and presumably would wish to maintain credibility in a world beyond politics. It'll be interesting to see whether those who have currently stood aside maintain that position in the face of, one might imagine, some considerable Trump pressure. So much for the idea of 'States Rights' eh?

The daft thing about these challenges is that all the States at dispute have Republican controlled Legislatures. In particular, the States of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. They agreed to amend the voting rules to permit more postal voting in view of the pandemic.
By and large these rules were taken up by Democrat voters and ignored by Republican voters. Now most Republican states elsewhere are calling foul over decisions taken by Republican lawmakers.
So it’s all shenanigans by Democrats to steal the election. It was enabled by Republican lawmakers throughout these five states and implemented by Republican Governors in Georgia and Arizona and certified by a Republican Secretary of State in Georgia!
Now that’s what I call a ‘deep state’!

As he's just been elected to a new 6 year term he has a bit more freedom to say this than other Republican Senators although they all should follow suit.

Not sure if this is the place to say it but what on earth has happened to Maajid Nawaz? He appears to be supporting and promoting all of the Trump conspiracy theories that the election has been rigged. Bizarre behaviour from someone who has claimed to be a liberal.

Yeh it’s been commented on a couple of times. As a major former fan I’m gutted, but he’s gone completely loopy. I think his LBC slot must be at serious risk...

It doesn't matter what he believes -it tends to be an extreme version of it. He thinks that Biden is involved with his sons claimed activities in China, which gas become an obsession for him.

When he was in the small space with Cameron, did he tell them "we're all in it together?"

He is, and always has been, a controversialist or to put it less politely an attention seeking twat who should never be taken seriously on any topic. Unfortunately there are plenty of gullible fools who get taken in just because they agree with one or two of his stances.

He does seem to seek out controversy, largely to keep his profile raised...ironically I have heard very little from him lately. I'm clearly looking in the wrong (right) places!

I believe the last two are appointed by the Governor, a Republican. Intriguing group who have (so far) opted out. Kentucky is McConnell's base, but also has a Democrat governor (though I assume the powers are separated). That leaves Idaho and Ohio without a current explanation.

Time magazine have announced their 'Person of the Year':
As it can be more than one person, I tend to agree with this reply to a tweet on the subject:

I think that's very fair, however I suspect (hope) that Time are simply trolling the Trumpers
