Its funny to think that Jeffrey Donaldson is the longest serving MP in Northern Ireland. I still think of him as the new MP for Lagan Valley.

I think it's because, with the Assembly, the opportunity for (eg) Seamus Mallon to be on the TV every five minutes has gone plus 'the 1997 effect' (I can name a far greater array of 1997 winners and losers than I can for other elections).

The average UK person not interested in NI or even politics at all probably couldn’t name many politicians in NI beyond the leaders these days, whereas in the days of the troubles there was a lot of prominence for many

Colm Eastwood SDLP Edwin Poots (for now) DUP Mary Lou McDonald SF Naomi Long APNI Claire Bailey Doug Beattie (just elected) UUP Jim Allister TUV Billy Hutchinson PUP Owen McCracken Cross-Community Labour Alternative (though there one elected Councillor quit and joined Militant Left Gerry Carroll (part of collective leadership) PBP Peader Toibin Aontu All in order of memory, not importance, of those with any elected reps in Northern Ireland. Then, I am a bit weird, so.

It's getting to the stage where I can't do it. I got the name of the NI Sinn Féin leader wrong in a quiz recently.

So, blame the quiz master...I find it saves time.

Not only that, but they use the word "coronated" You can reduce the chances of that happening to you by getting the jab.

I long since gave up on pub quizzes. I was in a bar in Edinburgh some 20 years back when a quiz was running. The question was ‘who was the first President of Zimbabwe’. I was sat at the same table as some participants. I pointed out that it was Canaan Banana. The official answer was Robert Mugabe! The idiots didn’t realise the difference between President and Prime Minister. The quizmaster hadn’t a clue but his card had Mugabe written on it. It was not possible to confirm their error online back then.

Dave Gorman does a good riff on this on one of his programmes - I think Life is Goodish - which I believe is on is channel on youtube and I find all his programmes very enjoyable! Particularly over the longest place name which apparently is: Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu in New Zealand and not as often thought: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in Wales www.worldatlas.com/articles/the-10-longest-place-names-in-the-world.htmlAnd a pub quiz which he was at and the quiz master thought it was the Welsh answer and Dave knew that it was the New Zealand one. --- Looking online! Does Josiah Zion Gumede count as the first president of Zimbabwe - probably not! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josiah_Zion_Gumede. Nothing is 100% true - as the spats between QI and the Unbelievable Truth show!

Isn't the "official" name for Bangkok even longer?
