With the very best will in the world, perhaps telling your grandmother to suck eggs is probably not the best idea on this forum. I'm sure you'd be slightly peeved if someone on here tried to explain to you aspects of Danish culture that is second nature to you. Well, I do not understand why you even brought up Gladstone, Firstly, I made a quick one-liner, whether it was funny or not there was no reason to treat it as a serious statement. Secondly, scouse did not exist when Gladstone was a boy/youth and developed his basic speech pattern, so he isn't relevant. Thirdly, you are not necessarily knowledgable about the historical development of language in the area you live in. Most people aren't. And since you brought up Gladstone in this context I assumed you weren't. Bangs one's head on brick wall.

Oh, stop being so bloody precious, Khun. Even Mike has been able to approach this thread with the requisite good humour, and that is clearly the spirit in which the original quip by odo was intended before you even brought Gladstone into it. Once you did so, her explanation held up so I can't tell what your continued grievance is.
I always bow to your knowledge or the corner of Hampshire where you are currently residing. Sadly your attitude to the place you grew up (and the remote corner of Lincolnshire where you happen to have relatives living) leave a lot to be desired. You are not doing the image of the stereotypical oversensitive, entitled, victim-complex Liverpudlian any good.

Rare colour footage has been found of Adolf looking for work in Liverpool...

You know, I can take a lot but being accused of being a Scouser is something I cannot abide.

I thought of him right away. Its actually unusual for someone to pick up the accent - I've lived here for 23 years and haven't picked it up at all. Did you know that actors have to practice their Scouse by saying 'purple chicken' ? I love the way they say 'murder' - which sounds like 'meerdah' For some reason people from Scandinavian countries seem to pick up the Scouse accent very easily - I can think of two Danish acquaintances living in the city who could put on an accent that would make you think they'd been born and bred in Bootle. Any sociolinguists present? Of couse Norwegians have a spiritual affiliation with the city given their provision of much of the home fans for Redshite matches....

When I went to work in Oslo, one of my Norwegian colleagues spoke English with a Geordie accent, which was a bit disconcerting. Turns out he had spent a year as a student in Sunderland. (I know, Mackem is not Geordie)

Of couse Norwegians have a spiritual affiliation with the city given their provision of much of the home fans for Redshite matches.... The Norwegian LFC Supporters club estimates a maximum of 1,500 Norwegian fans travel for home games. You have a different definition of "much" to me.

Everyone from Formby to Prestatyn sounds Scouse to me, I'm afraid!
