Another reminder of this in case anyone hasn't already read the previous posts on this page.

Another reminder of this in case anyone hasn't already read the previous posts on this page. I'd thought they weren't going to do this anymore. If they can show 2010 then they can show 1970 as well, 50 years after the event.

They keep showing all sorts of tedious committees via whatsapp (or whatever) which even I find incredibly boring!
They should do a series of election broadcasts (the full 12 hours or however long it is) at least once a week IMHO

Having said that, looking back on 2010 would be a nightmare revisited. Without that result we would have had a far milder form of "austerity" and no **** Brexit!

Without that result we would have had a far milder form of "austerity" and no **** Brexit! This is for the alternative history thread, but if Labour stayed in power the Conservatives (under Cameron or someone else) would surly have lurched further to the right and promised an in/out referendum come the following general election, which they could well have won.

Its a possibility. At the very least it would have delayed it 5 years, then when we are looking that far into an alternative future who knows how the political world would have shaken down?

I agree about 1970; on the “weren’t going to do this anymore” point, it may be because the across the board financial cuts of which GE election repeats were a victim, have been postponed until, to coin a phrase, normal service has been resumed post-Coronavirus.

It was a disappointment at the time and looks worse in hindsight due to the impact of coalition. The fun part was the actual campaign, and even then things started to slip in the last couple of weeks. 1997 was much better.

Anyone on Twitter might want to follow @folpolitics2010 who are live Tweeting campaign events.

Oh:
Far from a shortage of election repeats we seem to be having a surfeit of them.

What a year 2015 was.
Missed my Cambridge offer, but predicted Ed Balls would lose his seat.

Would be nice to see ITN's older programmes -the 1992 one disappeared off youtube but I think the others from 1997 are on there.
Then we come to Sky News!

I know they’re niech but I’d quite like to see some of the non general election shows.
Locals, London and Wales/Scotland etc

A few years ago I hinted they should consider byelection specials. There were some classic examples in the 1980s.
