There are three Labour MP's who are Jewish (including Ed Milliband) and at least six Labour Lords who are Jewish

There's more than 3 MPs - I can think of four immediately. Obviously not Miliband. I'd have thought Louise ELlman might be one of the most likely of the MPs but the fact he said 'Parliamentarian' suggests its probably some Lord who nobody has heard of. Lord Sugar has already resigned hasn't he?

While many opponents would be content just to sit on their hands and wait out the Corbyn leadership, the prospect of having to face a hostile selectorate as a result of boundary changes may persuade some MPs to jump before they're inevitably pushed.

If they feel they are unlikely to win their seat in 2020 under Corbyn anyway and/or be deselected what have they got to lose?

The resignation appears to be somebody called Lord Mitchell, who had already publically threatened to quit if Corbyn was re-elected. He stood for the SDP in 1983 and 1987, so it is perhaps not surprising he is not a Corbyn fan.

If they feel they are unlikely to win their seat in 2020 under Corbyn anyway and/or be deselected what have they got to lose? Their self respect, perhaps? Two things should not be underestimated - how powerful the folk memories of both 1981 and even 1931 are on all wings of the party, and how much the present minority "wing" still believe things will move their way again in the end (we can see this in some of the spin on today's result, including on here) You could add to that the "Reg Prentice" factor - his going over to the Tories in 1977 did the "moderates" in Labour significant harm.

If I was in this situation, I wouldn't be looking to resign/defect as an individual, I would hope to be part of a co-ordinated movement by a significant number of MPs - certainly double figures. I also wouldn't expect the action to happen today - either on Monday back at Westminster, or even Wednesday morning in the run-up to PMQs.

I think you misread the appetite for such a move now.

The most likely to jump ship will be those who fear there is a risk of being deselected. It probably will take deselections to actually happen before anyone actually jumps ship.

I think someone like Frank Field might become an Independent Labour MP at some stage as a protest against Corbyn. There's been a good possibility of Frank Field becoming an Independent Labour MP ever since he became a Labour MP. He'd join UKIP if we weren't too left wing and anti-authoritarian for him...

Deselections are only going to happen if the MP has fallen out with their CLPS. And if so it's usually their fault.

No one will jump unless they plan to retire anyway or have been deselected. No Labour MP will stand under any other description at the next election.
What can they possibly gain by leaving? Unless they're exceptionally personally popular in their constituency they couldn't retain their seats, and standing against Labour can only help the Tories. If they stay they have the chance to influence the future direction of Labour, if they leave they guarantee that there will be no future government sharing their views. And if they quit now they lose the chance of returning to government in 2020 under PM Corbyn or at any future election.
Unless there are some Labour MPs who genuinely would prefer a Tory government to a Labour government, in which case they should be expelled anyway.

I think you misread the appetite for such a move now. I am quite happy to admit to having no knowledge of the internal moods of the Labour party. Just speculating!

Unless there are some Labour MPs who genuinely would prefer a Tory government to a Labour government, in which case they should be expelled anyway. There are probably a couple of careerist Labour MPs who could conceivably defect to the Tories if it gave them a genuine chance at a junior cabinet position (especially if they believe the spin about a Corbynite Labour Party being "unelectable"). Although it's difficult to imagine any of them being offered that.
