While I don't know enough about the case to have any particular view about it, the idea that a group of right wing Tories and Kippers are either independent or wanting her to succeed, hence offering 'helpful' advice, is laughable. And not one post with any evidence supporting the petition's validity- despite a left-wing lean on this forum. I wasn't defending what she was saying as I don't know enough about it - but to be frank if I wanted advice I wouldn't seek it from my political opponents. On any topic.

I would on something factual- they'd be more likely to find the holes. I could then see if the holes were fixable.

When and how did the time limit change for requesting marked registers from 6 months to 12 months please?

Her Crowdfunder page is currently showing that Mandy has raised £80.00 in 56 days from three supporters. I wonder if any of the three supporters has the initials MR? I

Probably. His brief biography in The Times Guide for 1964 goes: " Mr. Alan Lomas is an electrical engineer and former shop steward in the Electrical Trades Union. Born June, 1918; elementary education. Member of Labour Party, 1945-48, joining the Conservatives during the Suez affair." Alan Ernest Lomas died earlier this year, so you will not be seeing his name on ballot papers in future: www.stroudnewsandjournal.co.uk/announcements/deaths/deaths/14249119.Alan_Ernest_Lomas/

One way or another the percentage of children leaving school without a qualification would be dramatically reduced.

Can anyone tell me in which year the last Scottish county council elections were held prior to the outbreak of the Second World War, and whether or not they were always held in December before then?

Can anyone tell me in which year the last Scottish county council elections were held prior to the outbreak of the Second World War, and whether or not they were always held in December before then? A quick search suggests 1938, and the previous two sets in 1932 and 1935 were certainly in December. Apparently there was a Scottish Local Government Act in 1929 which annoyed a lot of people as it gave powers to the counties which had previously resided with town and district councils. David can probably be more precise...

December 1919, 1922, 1925, 1928...then 1929 (Scottish Reform Act), 1932, 1935 and 1938.

Thank you both. I gather the first ones - held in 1890 - were in February. I've been adding more links to my spreadsheet of old Glasgow Herald articles concerning local election results.

Have any local government by-elections ever been held between Christmas and New Year?

Have any local government by-elections ever been held between Christmas and New Year? None on Keith Edkins's page since 1996.

Does anyone have a link to the notional figures for the 1997 UK boundaries at the 1992 UK general election? If you go to David Boothroyd's website then you can work them out from the vote changes.

I notice that the last contested Parliamentary by-election held between Christmas and New Year was in St Ives in 1874. There were some uncontested ones listed as occurring during World War I, but that was merely the nomination deadline - with only one candidate nominated, no contest was needed.

Can't find the media guide anywhere :/ I have part of the information - did you want it for any specific seat(s) ? Pretty much all of them for Scotland. So its probably too big a task. I'm working on 'projected ward results' for Scotland from 1974 onwards. I'm wanting to tie this in to the work Rallings and Thrasher did (errors and all) for consistency.

I'm wondering which district councils have changed their election cycle at any point back to 1974. Is there an easier way to find this out than trawling through the pdfs of all the results of every local election at electioncentre.co.uk or sending out hundreds of freedom of information requests?
