Good to see we have a candidate in the Shropshire contest, same candidate as 2009. I would say this will be a Lib Dem Gain.

Is the candidate in East Dunbartonshire from EDIA or are they not standing?

He is not an official candidate, however he has said he intends to sit with the remaining EDIA councillor if elected.

In the Burnley contest, interesting to see the far right starting to splinter even there now. Smith stood for England First in 2007 and 2008, though not against BNP opponents suggesting some deal. Dawson is an ex-Cllr for Gannow ward. In East Dunbartonshire, I know the Green candidate. He's an 18 year old MSYP from the other end of the council area.

English First have just deregistered with the electoral commission, they no longer exist as a political party. Most of their former 100 members have now joined the National Front and are hostile to the BNP.

Lee CHAPMAN (Conservative Party Candidate) Clive LEWORTHY (The Labour Party) Bob WELCH (Liberal Democrat) All three candidates have a degree of local profile. Lee Chapman is a businessman and local bigwig in Church Stretton. He was a member of the old South Shropshire District Council, though not for a Stretton ward. He used to own the Long Mynd Hotel just above the town. Clive Leworthy is the chairman of Craven Arms town council, and is a Volunteering Outreach Officer with the Community Council of Shropshire. He was the Labour candidate in this division in 2009. Bob Welch is a town councillor in Church Stretton and was its Mayor for a while. He was one of the two LibDem candidates for the division in 2009 (the one that polled the least votes).

He was a member of the old South Shropshire District Council, though not for a Stretton ward. . His ward was Wistanstow with Hopesay which covered the area between Church Stretton and Craven Arms and the whole of this area is part of the current division (but contains only about 1/6th of the electorate)

Highlight of his page: saying he'd got a leaflet to 40% of the ward on Tuesday. Does tend to suggest a fundamental unseriousness, which is backed up by most of his comments on the electoral process.
