"Anna" is a very odd name for a ward. How many other wards share single word names with relatively common given names?

"Anna" is a very odd name for a ward. How many other wards share single word names with relatively common given names? There are quite a number of Victoria wards, for example in Taunton, Hartlepool, and formerly Newbury. Abbey is one of the most common ward names in Britain, while a Portsmouth ward and Mandela both have the name Nelson. There are also countless wards with names of the form "St. X", but these are not strictly single word names.

Cheshire East (possibly amongst others) have got a Leighton which is I believe a fairly common forename in Wales.

As in the case of Welsh winger Leighton James who played for Burnley amongst other teams. Not to be confused with Scottish goalkeeper, James Leighton, of Aberdeen, Manchester United and Hibernian!

Anna Valley is a 'suburb" of Upper Clatford and halfway between the latter and Abbotts Ann and Little Ann. I resume Abotts Ann must have been some religious establishment back in the day. Curiously though the watercourse through Anna Valley is Pilhill Brook, not the Anna....

There are a few more at parliamentary level, all less common ones, which I've seen as a given name.
Leigh. Burton. (Given name for Burt Lancaster and Burt Reynolds.) Lincoln. Preston. Stafford. (Cripps for example.) Windsor. (Davies.) Moray. Stirling.

Also Chester.
Though why I'm doing this while cooking Christmas dinner is anyone's guess. Carrots and parsnips in soon. Remembering everything takes longer as I cook with gas...

Good call. As in Chester Arthur, 21st president of the United States. Must confess one of my students is called Chester and that's what made me think of it! Arthur was a fairly conservative Republican and both his son and grandson were also called Chester. The grandson became a sexologist and astrologer. I suspect the late President was not turning so much as spinning in his grave.

I have a friend called East-Kilbride-Strathaven-and-Lesmahagow Singh. He gets very upset when people mispronounce Strathaven.

The ONS appear to only release top 100 names each year, so I matched current English ward names with a list of 30,000+ registered given names in 2019 from the US social security administration. There were 280 matches, here are the top 100. Yes, I am self-isolating and no, I really don't have anything better to do. WardName | Gender | Births* | Isabella | F | 13306 | Evelyn | F | 10392 | Lincoln | M | 7432 | Victoria | F | 6344 | Roman | M | 4877 | Easton | M | 4862 | Addison | F | 4473 | Anna | F | 3807 | Weston | M | 3563 | Kingston | M | 3246 | Chase | M | 3152 | Ashton | M | 3027 | Bentley | M | 2951 | Brandon | M | 2671 | River | M | 2349 | Alexandra | F | 2122 | Ashley | F | 2019 | Eden | F | 1943 | Preston | M | 1734 | Trinity | F | 1627 | Walker | M | 1627 | Bradley | M | 1431 | Brooke | F | 1431 | River | F | 1419 | Phoenix | M | 1399 | Clayton | M | 1297 | Spencer | M | 1031 | Phoenix | F | 1017 | Ellis | M | 970 | Warren | M | 951 | Oakley | F | 902 | Leighton | F | 752 | Sutton | F | 750 | Oakley | M | 686 | Dalton | M | 679 | Holly | F | 649 | Eden | M | 630 | Abram | M | 608 | Scott | M | 536 | Lawrence | M | 527 | Henley | F | 501 | Ford | M | 496 | Drake | M | 483 | Layton | M | 480 | Ridge | M | 442 | Wells | M | 432 | Denver | M | 419 | Sutton | M | 417 | Kingsley | M | 416 | Nelson | M | 400 | Ellis | F | 394 | Lea | F | 388 | Holland | F | 382 | Rayne | F | 381 | Quinton | M | 380 | Stanley | M | 375 | Douglas | M | 372 | Leighton | M | 362 | Devon | M | 342 | Oakleigh | F | 313 | Denver | F | 300 | Whitley | F | 280 | Trent | M | 265 | Dane | M | 248 | Kenley | F | 243 | Spencer | F | 241 | Forest | M | 239 | Heath | M | 224 | Darwin | M | 223 | Immanuel | M | 201 | Benton | M | 184 | Brent | M | 182 | Lincoln | F | 182 | Slade | M | 178 | Garrison | M | 173 | Ripley | F | 170 | Clarence | M | 167 | Jubilee | F | 165 | Norman | M | 159 | Arrow | M | 158 | Clifford | M | 153 | Empress | F | 152 | Link | M | 151 | Bentley | F | 149 | Bryn | F | 148 | Milton | M | 148 | Shirley | F | 146 | Blythe | F | 141 | Ramsey | M | 139 | Ashton | F | 137 | Aston | M | 133 | Alton | M | 131 | Hartley | F | 124 | Kenton | M | 124 | Dale | M | 118 | Kingsley | F | 115 | Lyndon | M | 113 | Sheldon | M | 110 | Ramsey | F | 107 | Clifton | M | 103 |
