So, by the time of the next election in 2024, it will have meant that in the last 27 years, approximately half of the constituencies [and therefore half of the electorate] have a totally meaningless vote - no chance of their vote ever making a difference to the governance of the nation!
...yet more evidence for ditching FPTP!!
Actually it means that most constituencies, even the ones who haven't changed allegiance, will have had their chosen party in government for at least 13 years. I wouldn't call that meaningless or purposeless.

That's a modest enough change to list all the seats that would have "flipped", surely?

Compared to 2010, Tories win Bolton West; Derby North; Dudley North; Grimsby; Hampstead; Mid Dorset; Middlesbrough South; Morley & Outwood; Newcastle-under-Lyme; North East Derbyshire; Plymouth, Moor View; Somerton & Frome; Southampton, Itchen; St Austell; St Ives; Telford; Walsall North; Walsall South; Wells; and Wirral South.

2010 - CON plus UKIP www.yapms.com/app/?m=5fcvCompared to 2010, the Tories win Bolton West; Derby North; Dudley North; Great Grimsby; Hampstead & Kilburn; Mid Dorset & North Poole; Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland; Morley & Outwood; Newcastle-under-Lyme; North East Derbyshire; Plymouth, Moor View; Somerton & Frome; Southampton, Itchen; St Austell & Newquay; St Ives; Telford; Walsall North; Walsall South; Wells; and Wirral South. Cameron wins a majority, Ed Balls loses Morley & Outwood and Annunziata Rees-Mogg wins Somerton & Frome. Is there a way to zoom in on these maps?

Despite regularly doing it on a touchscreen, I also didn't realise one used the same technique on a laptop trackpad.

A map of the constituencies that have only been won by one party since 2010. Includes Speaker but excludes by-elections. It gives an interesting visualisation of the Red Wall, SNP takeover of Scotland, and the Lib Dem losses in 2015. www.yapms.com/app/?m=5efvI hope, the author allows me to publish a storable version:

Walsall North; Walsall South; Those two have diverged a fair bit in the subsequent decade.

Interesting to see some of the "red wall" seats that so much fuss has been made about on this list; almost like it was a long-term decline rather than purely a sudden reaction to Corbyn/Brexit, and the vast majority of pundits have been talking absolute bollocks for the last 12 months (and the rest)

It's certainly true that many red wall seats had been drifting away from Labour. Even in 2017 they didn't do as well as might have been expected. But the final tip over into the Tory column correlates to Brexit and the accusation that Labour were trying to make them vote again.

I wouldn't call Blackpool South 'Red Wall' - it didn't have any Labour MPs until 1997.
It's also separated from the rest of the 'Red Wall' by true blue Fylde.

Geographically yes, but it has many shared characteristics. Largely white, some economic deprivation, strongly Leave voting, small town rather than city

Largely white, some economic deprivation, strongly Leave voting, small town rather than city I’d guess an older than the national average electorate as Blackpool was, maybe not quite so much now, the place people from the Midlands retired to. At one point up until economic circumstances led to downsizing Stoke’s local newspaper, The Sentinel, published a weekly edition for sale to expats in Blackpool.
