How did Batley and Spen vote in the referendum. Was there a higher Remain vote than similar seats.

I am wondering if UKIP is regretting its decision not to stand. If I lived in Batley & Spen, I would want to vote for a "Brexit Now:Activate Article 50 Quickly" candidate, as a nudge to the government to get on with it without too much prevarication.

But you're not exactly similar to the typical Batley and Spen voter.

As far as I can see, there has been no mention in the media regarding candidates other than Liberty GB and the fact there will be a Labour one.

I fear that there may be lots, like in Haltemprice & Howden. Many prospective candidates might emerge in the last day or two, and/or may think that only they will be the "other" candidate. Someone with a big ego might wrongly think that a retained deposit is quite likely in the absence of the other main parties.

Many maverick candidates with little or no social media presence, waiting for the election to be called. As I recall, nobody expected Haltemprice to have anything close to the total it did.

I might add a poll for notional voting preferences once the SOPN is published. I would be surprised if there's as many candidates as in Haltemprice and Howden, due to the very different circumstances. The OMRLP, for instance, has said they will not stand.

Any word on how the Labour candidate is to be chosen?

The procedure for candidate selection will be the same as usual in a byelection - self-nomination, shortlisting by the NEC, selection by the paid-up members who joined before the freeze date. No timetable yet set due to the circumstances of the vacancy, and the fact that Jo Cox's funeral was only last week.

Ok, they're not working. An anonymous IP address on Wikipedia is claiming that this is a genuine candidacy, only I have my doubts....
