I voted for Kitchin (as according to his Twitter feed he's a Green party member) And he has contested local elections on the Greens' behalf in the town of Batley itself as well, which is another useful strike in his favour.

I voted for Kitchin (as according to his Twitter feed he's a Green party member) He replied to my tweet by saying that he has resigned as Secretary for the duration of the campaign, and will resign from the Green Party completely if he is elected.

As I said above, "By Election Protest" is a registered description of a political party registered in August with the name "English Independence" and with leader one Neil Humphrey of Nottingham. They had some other registered descriptions rejected, including "Sod Scottish Referendum", "Keep Calm and Vote English", "Hang Murderers Death-Penalty" and "Just Hang 'm High to Die". ( Herald article) So I don't think this is some moderate Labour supporter... Neil Humphrey was English Democrat candidate for Berwick-upon-Tweed at the 2015 GE. His new party is an ED splinter. Some more details in a Wikipedia edit by User:Anticorbyn: en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=English_Independence&oldid=741526382(Reproduced here in case it gets deleted there.)

Henry Mayhew appeared in the BBC documentary "The secret history of our streets"-in the episode that dealt with the gentrification of Portland Road in Kensington. He was also a Committee member (and possibly Chairman at some point) of the same Conservative Ward Committee that David Cameron chaired briefly in the early 1990s Thanks for that. I have voted Mayhew. EDIT And without any doubt I would vote Mayhew if an elector there.

Polls closed.
FWIW, 26 of us would have voted Labour in this by-election and only 10 forum members displayed as Labour supporters voted in the thread poll.

Now that is what I call low turnout I shall now go back to adding all of my 500 seat plans PS Please could some people head over to my 500 seat thread and comment on my plans, it feels lonely over there

Sounds about right for a local authority by-election. Heck, I've seen ward turnout figures like that in the main elections for local authorities.

You were told about this before. If you had posted your Devon & Cornwall plans and left it at that for a while then maybe people would comment but nobody can be arsed to go scrolling through 3 pages of new posts. Well I suppose I can't speak for everyone else, but I certainly can't be arsed

25.8% turnout in Batley & Spen would be about 20,000 votes.
