ntyuk1707The constituencies you've proposed in the North East seem rather large for the Scottish parliament. How about something like this? Also would the rural Perthshire constituency you've created have gone Conservative at the last Scottish parliament election?

ntyuk1707 The constituencies you've proposed in the rural North East seem perfect for the Westminster parliament but would leave much of the rural areas of Aberdeenshire underrepresented compared to urban Aberdeen or rural Angus. Although I accept the boundaries I have proposed in Buchan and Formartine aren't ideal.

Unfortunately it's that or chop up Kincardineshire three-ways and link up Formartine with random parts of Banff and Buchan. I've always maintained that community ties are more important than arbitrary electorate numbers: it's the same in Ayrshire - I'd much prefer maintaining the current boundary arrangement than having Prestwick and Troon bundled up with random bits of East Ayrshire just to satisfy a numbers game. I think that people in the North-East are better represented by having constituency boundaries that they can identify with than having random, messy constituencies which have the right number of voters in them. I fail to see how splitting formartine off from Garioch is a problem, the new proposed Deeside and Gordon constituency and Banff and Buchan split formartine, and I don't recall many complaints although I may be wrong.

The problem is more that both Gordon and Banff & Buchan would be split when they don't need to be. It just seems unnatural and wrong to me, but I take your point. I think you're giving the district areas too much weight, some of those are rather arbitrary and split up areas such as Garioch and formartine.
