@pjones An interview has emerged where Trump said he wanted racially segregated teams on The Apprentice. Regardless of merit, how are these the words of a man who knows how to manipulate the media to earn support? Who is more likely to support Trump because of these sorts of comments? If your answer is none-/ew, then why is he saying this sort of stuff?

If your answer is none-/ew, then why is he saying this sort of stuff? I don't think this was suggested for political reasons. This was back in 2005 and was suggested as an idea to drive ratings. Frankly it sounds like a very effective way to drive ratings. I don't think he did, but Trump was still fundamentally the same person a decade ago as he is now. He uses things like this to garner attention and praise for being outspoken and telling it like it is. However, it seems to me that many of these things are clearly not making him more popular. I can understand his outspokenness on illegal immigration and other topics but initiating discussion on things like race where he clearly won't win does not seem to show him as the strategist he is made out to be. |

When has he ever talked about race? He never discusses race. He has talked about illegal immigration and he has talked about Islam but he has never discussed race in a political context. The suggestion about 'The Apprentice' from 2005 seems to have been an idea for a gimmick for a reality show, not anything political. But talking about dividing people by race is going to be made a political thing. There's so many times where he's brought up things that will harm him when he did not even need to talk about them. This is a good example. |
