By my count there are five remaining by-elections in councils which are not up by thirds or halves: - Southwark, College is reported as a Labour hold but full figures are not yet available. - Havering, Heaton is reported as a Labour gain from UKIP but full figures are not yet available. - Glasgow, Anderston/City has only first preferences available at present. - I have no information on Guildford, Stoke or Torbay, Tormohun which may be still counting.

Probably. The ward came into existence in 1978, top votes then were Con 2136, Lab 509, Lib 239.

That result in Carnforth is particularly impressive given the earlier by-election outcome just months previously.

The Havering Heaton result brings the Labour Group up to 2, in a Council that was Labour a few years ago.It also represents the return of Denis O'Flynn a real veteran of local politics.

Labour run in the 1990s yes, but IIRC they last managed an overall majority in 1971?

Labour's collapse in Havering really occurred when the administration decided to have an all-postal vote trial in 2002. Turnout went up by over 10% but the previously unreached voters turned out to be mostly right-wing. After that the spell was broken.
