My finalised proposals for the 'Black Country' (disclaimer: contains no Birmingham wards)
1. Wolverhampton West (74,882) As Wolverhampton South West plus Oxley and Blakenhall wards. 2. Wolverhampton East (77,239) As Wolverhampton North East minus Oxley ward but plus East Park, Ettinghall, and Spring Vale wards. 3. Aldridge-Brownhills & Bloxwich (76,572) As Aldridge-Brownhills plus both Bloxwich wards. 4. Walsall (73,255). The Walsall wards of Blakenall, Birchills Leamore, Pleck, St Matthew's, Palfrey, Paddock, and Pheasey Park Farm, plus the Sandwell ward of Great Barr & Yew Tree. 5. Wednesbury & Willenhall (73,711) The Walsall wards of Willenhall North, Short Heath, Willenhall South, Bentley & Darlaston North and Darlaston South, plus the Sandwell wards of Princes End and Wednesbury North/South. 6. West Bromwich & Tipton (71,380) As West Bromwich East minus Great Barr & Yew Tree ward but plus Great Bridge and Tipton Green wards. 7. Smethwick & Oldbury (70,426+x) As Warley minus part of Langley ward but plus Oldbury and Tivdale wards. 8. Halesowen & Rowley Regis (67,299+x-y) Gains most of Langley ward and loses the Cradley South part of Hayley Green & Cradley South. 9. Stourbridge (69,303+y) Gains the Cradley South part of Hayley Green & Cradley South ward. 10. Dudley South(70,065+x) Gains St Thomas's ward and some streets in St James's ward. 11. Dudley North & Bilston (78,971-x) Gains both Bilston wards in Wolverhmapton and Coseley East, but minus St Thomas's ward and some streets in St James's ward (split unfortunately necessary due to quota limits).
The abolished constituencies are Wolverhampton South East, West Bromwich West, and Walsall North. The 'new' seat is Wednesbury & Willenhall.

The centre of Wolverhampton is in a seat called Wednesfield & Willenhall. Discuss.

They've gone with the doughnut solution to Telford. Actually makes a lot of sense given the rules.

Oh and Northfield is amusing: Longbridge to Moseley in one strip. Actually the whole of South Brum is a load of what American redistricting nerds would call 'bacon strips'.

Selly Oak and Halesowen is quite something. As you can tell from the name. Yardley includes Hall Green but not Sheldon, which is bundled into 'Chelmsley Wood & Solihull North'.

Warwick and Leamington split, and a very odd-feeling Coventry West and Meriden seat (breaking a lot of community ties with the wards now in Coventry South).

NuL gains Kidsgrove but loses the villages at the west of the borough; looks like a hook around Stoke. Most of Stoke is put into two seats, the S.W. is bundled into an odd thing called West Staffordshire. Which includes the above villages from NuL.

Dare I say I'm unimpressed with the BCE's Birmingham proposals? Why do they insist on going through this charade that they are able to make sensible seats without splitting wards? (At least not without help from people who know what they're doing.)

Predictably it is a fucking abomination. You simply can't draw the urban West Midlands sensibly without splitting a few wards (and I have bloody well tried).

The only question is whether they've been using a computer program without much in the way of human input, although perhaps it wouldn't make much difference these days.
