The vacancy to be contested in Newquay (Central and Pentire) is a Conservative seat, although 6 councillors from 4 parties were elected unopposed here in 2021.

If the Tories can't be honest about being Tories, they really deserve to lose.

How do they define “recent”?

There will be a contested by-election on 19 January 2023 in the Chorleywood South ward of Chorleywood PC. (The vacancy was caused by the resignation of Cllr Jack Biel.) It is being contested by two candidates: Anna Helen AL-DAMLUJI (Conservative and Unionist Party) Martin WALDRON (Labour Party) I have had problems linking directly to the Notice of Election, SOPN and Notice of Poll. They can all be found from links on this page: www.threerivers.gov.uk/egcl-page/local-electionsMs. Al-Damluji contested this ward at the main parish council election in May 2022, but was obviously unsuccessful. Waldron was the unsuccessful Labour Party candidate in the council's Quickwood ward in May.

Presumably was a Lib Dem seat as they won all the seats in that ward in May. I wonder if the Conservatives could contrive to lose this one to Labour..

19 January: Durham, Evenwood & Barony, Witton. Con* I was going to express surprise that the Conservatives got this uncontested, but turns out it’s been uncontested 12 times since the May 2021 elections and it covers not Witton Park but rather a small part of Etherley (as of 2015, 198 electors) that’s not in Etherley parish.
