Fake News! The unclean animals went in two by two, the clean animals went in seven pairs - for the breeding and eating. As Michael Moore would say: Pets or Meat? Think of poor old Noah, working through them all in alphabetical order, and straight after Ants he gets Anteaters.

There is a by-election on 8 September in Kirk Ella and West Ella parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, caused by the resignation of Stan Raymond (No Description).
His wife continues as a serving Conservative parish councillor and the current council make-up is Con 6 (including 1 co-option in March this year), Retired 1, No Description 1, Vacant 1
The two candidates are Con and Lab.

Dorset Winterborne St Martin - no candidates. What, after a Notice of Election was published? So someone collected 10 signatures to requisition the by-election, but no-one collected 2 signatures to be nominated? The world is a strange, strange place...

Someone must have changed their mind about standing. It will just have to be advertised again and again until someone stands.

I refer you to the sad case of Wing parish council in Rutland, where I shall quote from the Rutland website:

Great Cornard: South (Babergh)
249 Independent Bowman 105 Labour 93 Independent Harman
2019 2 Conservative, 2 Liberal Democrat, 1 Green, 1 No Description elected unopposed, presumably 1 unfilled Now 3 Conservative, 2 Liberal Democrat, 1 Labour, 1 Independent Can't find any other byelections so presumably previous vacancies filled by co-option
Penryn: Bissom (Cornwall)
22 Fathering Three Children Requires Being Diplomat 12 Labour
Witney: East (West Oxfordshire)
552 Conservative 421 Labour 240 Green 107 Liberal Democrat

But whatever, that sounds a rather wonderfully eclectic election (and a very poor turnout).

Obviously most voters in Penryn are Lib Dems and therefore stayed at homes. I imagine most Tories would have supported the winning candidate, a hard working family man seems to fit the mold.
