A controversial election as there was only the one polling station and it was full of animals. Surely the presiding officer would have something to say about everyone going in two by two? Fake News! The unclean animals went in two by two, the clean animals went in seven pairs - for the breeding and eating.

Durham, Bishop Aukland, Henknowle. Lab 211, Ind 113, Con 97. Torridge, Northam, Appledore. Local Independent Independent Candidate 235, Totally Independent 227, LD 125, Ind 116, Lab 86. I made a mistake in my original listing in Torridge - there was in fact no Conservative candidate, but rather a Totally Independent. I'm more Independent than you? anything you can do I can do better NO YOU CAN'T yes I can

But we are talking about South Staffs where, "The present is foreign country, they do things differently there!" (Apologies to L P Hartley)

Labour won something in Wealden! (they last won seats on the district council at the original elections in 1973) As well as narrowly missing out on a district seat in Uckfield New Town in 2019, as Tony Otim mentioned, the Labour candidate did successfully get elected at the same time to the Town Council. He also stood and did reasonably in the County division in 2021, and seems to be pretty active. I suspect it would not be a tremendous surprise to see a Labour gain in the district next year.

A vacancy has arisen on Abbots Langley PC, Bedmond ward, following the death of Cllr Jean Bowman (LDem). The Notice of Vacancy can be viewed here. This election has been called, although you wouldn't know it from the Three Rivers website, for 8th September. The reluctance of the Council to publicise this fact is baffling and another sign perhaps that all is not well in the Chief Executive's Department/Elections Office. Confirmed for 8th September. The official notice has been published here. It is a bizarre offering from Three Rivers, completely omitting the name of the parish council concerned.........

Confirmed for 8th September. The official notice has been published here. It is a bizarre offering from Three Rivers, completely omitting the name of the parish council concerned......... Candidates: Lab/ND/Con/LD www.threerivers.gov.uk/egcl-page/local-electionsJohn G. COOPER (Lab) Belinda C. PHIPPS (No Description) David POLLARD (C) Mo RATTAB (LDem) Belinda Phipps contested the Primrose Hill parish by-election in May this year. She was formerly a Lib Dem parish councillor, but is now involved with a local community organisation called 'Abbots Langley in Transition'. John Cooper lives just outside the parish ward boundaries. He has declined to give his home address because of his occupation. Cooper was Labour's candidate in Amber Valley at the 1992 General Election, only failing to be elected to Parliament by 712 votes. I think I am correct in stating that the whole of the parish ward is in the St. Albans constituency. The result last time (2019) was LDem 278, Lab 39.
