On 18th November there will be a by-election for Hendy Ward on Pontarddulais Town Council. This will be a straight head to head between Plaid Cymru and Gwlad. Gwlad's candidate Wayne Erasmus has previously stood here as an Independent.

Is this an LD gain or hold, and if a gain, from whom (expecting the answer to be the Tories)?

Does that overlap with Bourne? No. They are a few miles apart. Winning two by-elections at once is quite a good sign for activism levels down there

Is this an LD gain or hold, and if a gain, from whom (expecting the answer to be the Tories)? I think it’s a LD hold. In 2019 the ward elected 3 Lib Dem’s and 1 Tory. And the city council is showing 2 Lib Dem’s and 1 Tory in the ward. 2019 result was LD 833/749/745/657. Con 681/649/642/595. Lab 302. ALDC says it’s a gain from Con though, either they are wrong or there has been a subsequent Tory by election gain or defection because the Tory who’s still there was the one elected in 2019.

No. They are a few miles apart. Winning two by-elections at once is quite a good sign for activism levels down there Our crew just along the coast have really get themselves together again, galvanised initially by the Southbourne by-election gain in December '16 and building on that ever since. Importantly we're also not confined to the south of the district but we have footholds in the rural hinterland in the north too which we hadn't had since the mid noughties.

December 9th will see a by election in Ferndown's Hampreston and Longham Ward (the ward I represented from 2010-2019) due to the resignation of Mandy Willis. If everything goes according to plan, we will be standing the first ever Green candidate in Ferndown.
