CARMARTHENSHIRE - Elli Williams - Ind 303 Lab 135 PC 62 Burdess - Ind 57 UKIP 40 LD 22 Turnout 36.43% Are the boundaries the same as the principal council ward? It does suggest a fair amount of interchangeability between the Tory vote there and the same winning Independent here.

Sandhurst Town Council by-election result (Central Sandhurst ward):
LD: 552 (64.0%) Con: 310 (36.0%)
LD gain from Con.
Compared to top-ranked candidate in May 2023:
LD +23.8% Con + 2.5% Lab -26.3% (did not stand)
The Tory decline in the former Conservative bastion of Sandhurst continues. Second Sandhurst by-election on the trot they have lost.

I'm pretty sure there was a notice of uncontested election on Charnwood website, I'll try and find it.
EDIT: can't find it on the webpage anymore, but I still had the urls:
edit2: actually, they're linked from the results page www.charnwood.gov.uk/pages/election_results_2024

Merrily that is not just a three-way marginal, but also a third of the votes for the winner

With such few votes as that, it is very likely that the bulk of the voting choices were determined by the personal knowledge that the voters had of the candidates as individuals, regardless of their party labels.
